About this role

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

The Registered Nurse has accountability for the following functions and tasks:

- Responsible for supervising the caregiver staff.

- Conduct client assessments to determine care needs.

- Develop and oversee Plan of Care for different clients.

- Initiate the Plan of Care and make necessary ongoing revisions.

- Assure that the client and family understand the home Plan of Care and their responsibilities.

- Instruct or supervise the caregivers who are responsible for assisting the client with personal care needs.

- Make revisions to the Plan of Care, as required.

- Conduct orientation and training following agency guidelines.

- Maintain a safe environment for clients.

- Supervise, teach and orient caregivers per agency guidelines and regulatory standards.

- Recognize and reward good job performance and promote caregiver recognition.

- Respond to and resolve client complaints or concerns.

- Ability to make appropriate nursing judgments.

- Demonstrate knowledge of current health and homecare practices.

- Perform related duties and responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the management team.

- Participate in the quality assurance reviews and evaluations of the services provided to clients.

- Conduct in-home supervisory visits in accordance with agency guidelines and/or state license regulations.

- Report any observed, suspected and alleged elder abuse to the management team without delay.

- Respond to emergency situations professionally and calmly.

- Maintain a high level of professionalism and demeanor.

- Practice good time management, problem solving, follow instructions and complete work assignments.

- Maintain absolute confidentiality of all information pertaining to clients, including clients families and other employees.

- Demonstrate self-motivation, self-direction, organizational skills, flexibility and the ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.

- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, leadership team, supervisors, clients and family, ability to listen without imposing personal values or beliefs.

- Demonstrate sympathetic and positive attitude while caring for others.

- Understand that regular, consistent attendance is necessary to serve clients.

- Present a well-groomed image that reflects the professionalism of the business.

REQUIRED JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS :

- Nursing degree from an accredited school of professional nursing.

- Currently registered/licensed with the Maryland Board of Nursing.

- Two years of nursing experience in a home care industry is preferred.

- Successfully complete ongoing compliance with licensing, certification, continuing education, background checks, drug and alcohol testing, Office of Attorney General (OIG) screening, and health assessments/other assessments as may be required under federal, state, or local law or per employer policy.

- Ability to listen and communicate clearly, fluently, and diplomatically – both orally and in writing.

- Valid licensed driver with reliable transportation.

- Valid state required proof of insurance.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS :

- Must be able to lift, push or pull items weighing up to 25 lbs.

- Must be able to perform tasks involving a combination of sitting, standing, bending, reaching, stooping, walking, twisting, and climbing stairs.

- Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetic that enable these senses to function adequately to fully meet the requirements of this position.

- Work in various home environments with exposure to residential noise, debris, lighting, and indoor heating and cooling systems.
