Job Summary
As the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) , you will oversee the daily operations of our retail pharmacy, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. You will manage pharmacy staff, maintain inventory levels, and ensure the safe dispensing of medications. The PIC also acts as the key liaison with regulatory bodies and ensures all required certifications and licenses are up-to-date. This role requires a commitment to professionalism and the NARMC Standards of Behavior .
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
1. Pharmacy Operations Management:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal pharmacy regulations.
- Oversee daily pharmacy operations, including prescription processing, inventory control, and customer service.
- Maintain accurate records related to controlled substances and prescription dispensing.
- Develop, implement, and enforce pharmacy policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain and renew pharmacy licenses, registrations, and insurance requirements.
2. Regulatory Compliance & Oversight:
- Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, and local pharmacy laws and regulations.
- Maintain current pharmacy and pharmacist licensure, DEA registration, and any required certifications.
- Serve as the primary liaison with state pharmacy boards, DEA, and other regulatory agencies.
- Prepare for and manage inspections and audits (e.g., Board of Pharmacy, DEA).
3. Patient Care & Safety:
- Verify prescriptions for accuracy, interactions, and appropriateness.
- Counsel patients on proper medication use and potential side effects.
- Monitor for drug interactions and contraindications to ensure patient safety.
4. Inventory & Financial Management:
- Manage inventory levels to avoid shortages and excesses.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of medications.
- Control costs, minimize waste, and maximize operational efficiency.
5. Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service and ensure patient satisfaction.
- Resolve complaints or issues in a timely and professional manner.
Job Qualifications
Required:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Active, unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state of Arkansas.
- Proven experience in pharmacy operations, including managing a retail pharmacy.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state pharmacy regulations.
- DEA registration and any other required certifications.
Preferred:
- Previous experience as a Pharmacist in Charge or in a supervisory role.
- Experience managing pharmacy staff and overseeing inventory control.
- Strong communication, leadership, and customer service skills.
Compensation & Schedule
- Pay Range: Competitive, based on experience.
- Schedule: Full-time; standard business hours with potential flexibility.
