Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer Job Description
This role is ideal for a manufacturing engineer with a strong mechanical assembly background and hands-on experience with special processes such as brazing, welding, and potting. You will work independently with minimal oversight, applying excellent attention to detail and creativity to develop innovative solutions to complex manufacturing challenges. The position focuses on developing manufacturing methods and assembly instructions, resolving fabrication issues, and collaborating with internal teams to implement continuous improvements in a dynamic production environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop clear and detailed methods and instructions for the manufacture and assembly of products.
- Identify potential fabrication and assembly problems by closely reviewing designs and production processes.
- Design and develop fixturing and process updates to address fabrication issues and improve manufacturability.
- Work closely with internal teams to implement process improvements and engineering changes on the shop floor.
- Observe, document, and review production builds directly on the manufacturing floor to ensure processes are followed and optimized.
- Analyze and investigate defects discovered during the manufacturing process, determine root causes, and define corrective actions.
- Establish touch labor cost targets for shop and laboratory activities as requested, supporting cost and efficiency goals.
- Define tool and gage requirements needed for production and provide detailed input and support to the tool design group.
- Ensure the correct tools and gages are available when required in the process and are properly prescribed in process documentation.
- Propose engineering changes and evaluate their feasibility, producibility, and impact on labor and overall manufacturing costs.
Essential Skills
- 1–3 years of experience working as a manufacturing engineer in a production environment.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly processes.
- Practical knowledge of special processes such as brazing, welding, and potting.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to develop and document clear manufacturing and assembly instructions.
- Experience identifying and resolving fabrication and assembly issues.
- Capability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional internal teams.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in the aerospace industry is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated creativity in developing innovative solutions to complex manufacturing problems.
- Comfort working on the production floor, observing builds, and interacting directly with operations personnel.
- Ability to analyze labor costs and contribute to cost-target setting.
- Experience defining tooling and gaging needs and partnering with tool design teams.
Work Environment
This is an onsite manufacturing role based in a production facility. The position operates on first shift, Monday through Friday, approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with hours subject to adjustment based on business needs. You will spend significant time on the shop floor observing builds, interacting with production teams, and supporting tooling and process improvements in a hands-on environment. The workplace emphasizes structured processes, continuous improvement, and collaboration between engineering and operations.

This is a Contract position based out of Burnsville, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $37.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
