Job Title: Sr. Clinical Trial Manager Hybrid in South San Francisco, 1x/week 12-month initial contract with potential for extension and conversion Job Description We are seeking an experienced Sr. Clinical Trial Manager to provide operational leadership for ongoing oncology clinical studies and external research collaborations. This role will be responsible for study maintenance, vendor oversight, site closeout activities, data quality initiatives, and cross-functional coordination across internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a seasoned sponsor-side oncology clinical operations professional with a proven track record of independently leading studies, managing CROs and vendors, and driving execution through study maintenance and closeout in a biotech environment. Key Responsibilities • Lead operational management and oversight of oncology clinical studies from study conduct through closeout. • Drive study maintenance activities, including enrollment oversight, site management, study metrics tracking, data review, and operational issue resolution. • Manage large-scale site closeout activities across multiple clinical sites. • Provide strategic oversight and performance management of CRO partners to ensure timely, high-quality study execution. • Serve as the primary operational liaison between internal teams, CROs, investigators, laboratories, and external vendors. • Oversee multiple vendor relationships, including CROs, central/specialty laboratories, and patient support or concierge service providers. • Collaborate with Data Management and CRO teams to support data cleaning, query resolution, study reporting, and database readiness. • Support operational execution of investigator-initiated trials (IITs), academic collaborations, and future clinical research partnerships. • Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively communicate study status, challenges, and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders. • Ensure compliance with ICH-GCP guidelines, applicable regulatory requirements, and company SOPs. Essential Skills • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or a related scientific discipline. • Minimum 6+ years of clinical operations experience within a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company. • Direct sponsor-side early phase oncology clinical trial management experience. • Demonstrated experience serving as the operational lead or study owner for oncology clinical trials (Sr. CTM or comparable level). • Strong experience managing CROs from the sponsor perspective, including performance oversight, escalation management, and accountability. • Experience managing studies during study conduct, maintenance, data cleaning, and closeout phases. • Strong experience overseeing global early phase studies and multiple vendor relationships. • Strong understanding of ICH-GCP, FDA, EMA, and international clinical trial regulations. • Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to provide transparent operational updates, appropriately escalate risks, and effectively disseminate information across cross-functional teams. • Ability to work independently and effectively within a cross-functional team environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Solid tumor oncology experience strongly preferred. • Experience supporting investigator-initiated trials (IITs), clinical collaborations, or externally sponsored research strongly preferred. • Experience managing patient support vendors, travel vendors, or specialty service providers. • Experience in small- to mid-sized biotechnology companies or lean clinical development organizations. Work Environment This position is based in a hybrid work environment, with onsite presence 1x per week in South San Francisco.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of South San Francisco, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $110.00 - $140.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
