Company: Redcrest Hospice

Schedule: Three (3) 12-hour shifts weekly | 7:00 AM-7:30 PM | Every third weekend rotation | No on call

Location: Hospice House in Bloomington, IN

SUMMARY

The Hospice Aide I plays a meaningful and hands-on role in providing compassionate care to patients during their end-of-life journey. Working closely under the supervision of a registered nurse, the hospice aide helps with personal care tasks like bathing, dressing, and grooming to ensure patients feel comfortable, safe, and supported. In addition to providing physical care, the hospice aide offers emotional comfort and companionship to both patients and their families. This role is essential in helping people live their final days with dignity, peace, and as much comfort as possible.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide personal care to patients in accordance with the plan of care and under the supervision of the RN

- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support

- Offer emotional and physical comfort to patients and caregivers during end-of-life care

- Observe and document patient condition, changes, and care provided; report changes to the RN

- Maintain a clean and safe environment for the patient, including light housekeeping related to patient care

- Use infection control techniques and universal precautions consistently

- Provide support to the patient and family within their cultural and personal belief system

- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA, company, and regulatory guidelines

- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and in-service education as required

- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with agency standards

- Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

- Current certification as a Nurse Aide (CNA, STNA, or equivalent) in the state of practice

- Minimum of 1 year of experience providing personal care in hospice, home health, or long-term care preferred

- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English

- Compassionate, dependable, and respectful in all patient interactions

- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance required

- Ability to work independently in patient homes and travel within assigned territory

EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALS

- High school diploma or equivalent required
