About this role

Position Summary

Kern Energy is hiring a Loader position in the refinery that plays a vital role in the efficient and safe operation of a refinery facility. As a refinery loader, you will be responsible for the loading and unloading of various materials, including petroleum products, chemicals, and other bulk commodities. The primary objective of the Loader will be to ensure the accurate and timely movement of materials within the refinery while adhering to established safety and operational procedures. Job Function

- Safely and efficiently load and unload materials using appropriate equipment and procedures, such as petroleum products, chemicals, and other bulk commodities. This may include operating pumps, pipelines, loading arms, tank trucks, railcars, and other specialized equipment.

- Transfer materials between storage tanks, vessels, and transportation units, ensuring accurate quantities and maintaining the integrity of the products. Monitor gauges, valves, and controls to effectively control the flow and transfer of materials.

- Conduct visual inspections and quality checks on loaded or unloaded materials to ensure compliance with specifications, regulations, and safety standards. Report any discrepancies, spills, leaks, or other incidents promptly to the appropriate personnel.

- Operate and maintain loading and unloading equipment, including pumps, valves, meters, and control systems, following established procedures and safety guidelines.

- Ensure optimal performance and perform routine equipment inspections, cleaning, and basic maintenance tasks.

- Maintain accurate records of materials received, stored, and shipped. Complete necessary documentation, such as bills of lading, manifests, and inventory reports, to ensure proper tracking and traceability of materials.

- Operate Water Treatment Facility

- Communicate effectively with refinery personnel, including supervisors, operators, and truck drivers, to coordinate loading and unloading activities. Collaborate with other departments, such as logistics, operations, and maintenance, to ensure smooth and efficient material flow.

- Willingness to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as refineries often operate 24/7.

Qualifications

Knowledge Skills

- Knowledge of liquid pumping/isolation concepts is desirable.

- Familiarity with loading and unloading procedures, equipment, and safety practices.

- Understanding of material properties and compatibility, including hazardous materials.

- Basic knowledge of pumps, valves, meters, and other loading/unloading equipment.

- Ability to interpret and follow instructions, procedures, and safety guidelines.

- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation and compliance.

- Effective communication skills with truck drivers, fellow employees, and management.

- Demonstrated ability to work in an industrial environment successfully.

- Basic skills in mathematics, writing, reading, and computer use.

- Strong mechanical aptitude.

- Ability to complete Pipeline Operator Qualification Training for compliance certification.

- Education/ Experience

- High School Diploma or equivalent.

- Prior experience as a loader, material handler, or in a similar role within a refinery or industrial setting is preferred.
