Quality Control Technician 2nd Shift

Job Title: Quality Control Technician – 2nd Shift Job Description
This role is responsible for safely and efficiently manufacturing product batches in a production plant environment while supporting quality control activities and maintaining a clean, organized workspace. The Quality Control Technician operates production equipment, handles raw materials, follows established procedures, and complies with all safety and departmental policies to ensure consistent product quality and reliable manufacturing performance.
Responsibilities
- Manufacture batches of product using Basket Mill and High-Speed Disperser (HSD) equipment according to established procedures and quality standards.
- Maintain cleanliness of production vessels, gates, blades (including underside), shafts, and related equipment, including the manufacture and upkeep of lids and storage lids.
- Use various scales to accurately weigh raw materials and products as required for batch production.
- Properly transact raw materials from inventory using scanners to ensure accurate tracking and documentation of material usage.
- Relocate material tanks and containers to their appropriate locations within the plant, ensuring safe handling and organization.
- Write off drum heels as required and ensure proper documentation of material disposition.
- Perform inventory cycle counts as needed to support accurate stock levels and material control.
- Accurately record times, temperatures, and quality control tests (QCTs) for each batch, maintaining complete and precise production records.
- Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment throughout the shift.
- Follow all departmental policies and standard operating procedures related to production and quality control.
- Operate forklifts and various warehouse equipment as needed to move materials and support production activities.
- Commit to and actively support the company’s safety and quality programs, contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support production, quality, and plant operations.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification or successfully pass a forklift certification test.
- Ability to read and interpret procedure manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and safety rules.
- Ability to use a computer for all required company processes, procedures, and training.
- Capability to routinely lift, carry, and move raw materials or products weighing up to and exceeding 100 pounds.
- Ability to stand, kneel, and walk on concrete for approximately 90% of the workday.
- Ability to operate a forklift for up to 10% of the workday, as needed.
- Physical ability to frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and occasionally sit, climb, or balance.
- Comfort working in a manufacturing environment with paint odors.
- Reliability in attending work consistently and being available for overtime and weekend work when production increases.

- Experience in quality control or production in a manufacturing environment is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail when measuring materials, recording data, and performing quality checks.
- Ability to maintain a positive, cooperative attitude in a fast-paced production setting.

Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to paint smells and other typical production conditions. Team members spend the majority of the day standing, walking, and kneeling on concrete floors and regularly handle heavy materials. The role involves operating production equipment, forklifts, and various warehouse tools while following strict safety protocols. Personal protective equipment such as steel-toed boots, hard hats, safety glasses with side shields, gloves, aprons, respirators, and other PPE is required or provided as needed. Typical schedules include a 2nd shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with potential overtime and weekend work during periods of increased production, and a 1st shift option from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The environment emphasizes a good attitude, reliability, adherence to safety and quality standards, and offers long-term growth opportunities with a strong retirement plan.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
