Purpose
Reporting to the EHS Manager, acts as a key deputy to the EHS Manager, assisting with site EHS‑related leadership tasks and providing leadership. In the absence of the EHS Manager, this role shall perform internal site EHS management functions on behalf of the EHS Manager. The role covers on‑site EHS delivery, risk management, deployment of HOP, behavioural safety and EHS‑culture initiatives, and ensures compliance with corporate and local regulatory requirements to deliver site EHS performance targets.
Core Responsibilities
- Support the EHS Manager in delivering overall site EHS management activities; Support to improve the site EHS awareness and EHS management.
- Deliver EHS orientation training for new employees and contractors, facilitate tool‑box meetings and other required EHS training.
- Support development of EHS procedures and track their on‑site implementation.
- Organise site safety inspections and hazard identification together with area owners; follow‑up corrective & preventive actions for audit and inspection findings and evaluate CAPA effectiveness.
- Support EHS committee meetings and track closure of action items; maintain routine liaison with regulatory authorities and escalate any regulatory‑related risks promptly to the EHS Manager.
- Lead incident and near‑miss investigations and conduct trend analysis; lead risk‑assessment workshops and develop practical risk‑mitigation solutions covering process, equipment and operational activities.
- Drive on‑site HOP (Human and Organizational Performance) implementation, identify operational drift and human‑error traps.
- Leverage the EHS‑Contact tool to advance behavioural safety and strengthen site safety culture.
- Assist the EHS Manager to monitor EHS KPIs, identify performance gaps and drive improvement initiatives; support emergency‑plan administration and participate in emergency drills.
- Support management of hazardous / non‑hazardous waste, Odor exhaust, wastewater discharge, etc.
- Collaborate with Production, Process and Engineering teams to analyse and resolve process‑safety and equipment‑related EHS issues.
- Assist the EHS Manager to embed line‑EHS accountability across departments and coach line managers on area‑based safety management.
- Helping on risk assessment and providing tangible solutions to minimize risks.
Academic Background
- University degree in chemistry, Engineering, EHS and other related field
Professional Experience
- At least 2 years of working experience in chemical/manufacturing industry
- 5‑7 years hands‑on site EHS experience; proven experience in coaching or leading small EHS teams; familiarity with process‑safety and equipment‑safety is preferred.
