Position Summary

The Senior Press Brake Operator not only operates CNC press brake equipment, but also programs and sets-up work centers and trains less-senior operators. Operator ensures all parts meet quality standards and production schedules. The term senior equates to the position being within the range of the top two classifications (master mechanic or layout) of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

Duties and Responsibilities

- Program and operate CNC press brake controls.

- Train less-senior team members for operation, set-up and programming of press brake equipment.

- Select and install appropriate tooling, set up and operate press brake equipment to bend sheet metal components according to engineering drawings and specifications maintaining established rates and quality .

- Perform first-article inspections and routine quality checks using measuring instruments (calipers, protractors, height gauges)

- Follows all safety procedures, company policies, and defense-related compliance requirements (e.g., ITAR/CUI).

- Document production quantities, scrap, and downtime.

- Collaborates with engineers, supervisors, and team members to resolve fabrication or fitment issues.

- Maintains equipment, tools, and work areas to ensure safe and efficient operations.

- Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance fabrication efficiency and product reliability.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Required Skills and Abilities

- Experience with CNC controls preferably Cincinnati, Mitsubishi, or Pullmax.

- Setup experience (tooling, dies, part gauges, back gauges).

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.

- Basic math skills include geometry and trigonometry.

- Familiarity with various metals and their forming characteristics

- Experience with measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, angle gauges)

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Education and Experience

- High school diploma or GED required.

- 5+ years of press brake CNC programming, set-up and operation experience.

- Technical school or vocational training in manufacturing or metal fabrication preferred

Physical Requirements

- Ability to stand, bend, and work in various positions for extended periods.

Capable of lifting 50 pounds and maneuvering heavier materials with assistance
