About this role
# COMPANY
RYZE was founded in 2019 by Andrée Werner and Rashad Hossain, out of a parents' basement, with a mission to change daily health, starting with the morning routine: a nutrient-dense mushroom coffee delivering clean energy, mental clarity, and immune support. Built on a Direct-to-Consumer foundation with a performance marketing engine, RYZE achieved hockey-stick growth and a community of over 1 million active subscribers.
DTC remains the foundation, but RYZE has expanded into mass retail, quickly becoming the #2 item in Target's overall coffee category and is now executing a multi-channel expansion, with a cross-category launch coming in early 2027. RYZE is uniquely positioned to redefine how people think about daily wellness.
We’re a lean, fast-moving, mission-driven team who believe daily rituals create the foundation for living your greatest life, and we’re just getting started!
WHAT YOU'LL DO
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the VP of Quality, the Raw Material Quality Manager will own supplier and raw material quality across RYZE's ingredient and packaging supply base — from qualification and auditing through to specifications, COAs, and ongoing risk management. As RYZE scales its supplier network across DTC, mass retail, and a cross-category launch in early 2027, this role ensures every raw material entering our supply chain is qualified, documented, and risk-assessed to RYZE's standards.
Responsibilities will include:
- Own and continuously improve the raw material and packaging supplier audit and qualification program, covering ingredient suppliers, packaging vendors, and third-party warehouses
- Lead onboarding and qualification of new raw material and packaging suppliers, including remote and on-site audits against cGMP, FSMA, GFSI, and internal standards
- Design a raw material standard requirement and KPI measurement, in parallel to the Ryze Above standard, to drive raw material visits and performance
- Own raw material specifications and technical documentation, driving best-in-class standards for spec format and the quality and completeness of Certificates of Analysis (COAs). Ensure Ryze’s own standard for specifications is rolled out and maintained
- Build and maintain the raw material risk assessment process and audit schedule, covering food safety, allergens, country of origin, financial and other risk factors.
- Manage raw material deviations and non-conformances, leading root cause analysis and CAPA to close out recurring supplier issues.
- Own supplier quality agreements and Supplier Quality Questionnaires (SQQs), keeping documentation current and audit-ready.
- Develop and maintain KPIs for raw material supplier performance and audit outcomes, feeding the wider Quality data and reporting cadence.
- Partner cross-functionally with Procurement, NPD, and the Senior Quality Manager on new supplier approvals, product changes, and new launches.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of supplier or raw material quality experience within food, beverage, or dietary supplement manufacturing.
- Deep working knowledge of cGMP (21 CFR Parts 111 & 117), FSMA, HACCP, GFSI, and FSVP regulations.
- Proven experience auditing and qualifying raw material, packaging, and co-manufacturing suppliers.
- Skilled in non-conformance management, CAPA, root cause analysis, and supplier risk assessment.
- Comfortable traveling for supplier audits (up to ~30%) and working with eQMS platforms (e.g. Qualio).
