At Civmec, our IT and Technology division builds and safeguards the systems that underpin our operations across engineering, construction, and manufacturing. This role sits within Corporate IT, ensuring Defence security requirements are embedded across our shipbuilding programs.
As Ship System Security Officer, you will act as Civmec’s DISP Security Officer, developing and applying the policies, plans and controls needed to meet Defence security obligations across ship construction, commissioning, transition and sustainment.
The Role
- Act as Civmec’s DISP Security Officer supporting membership and compliance
- Develop and maintain security policies, plans, procedures and registers
- Manage AGSVA clearance sponsorship, revalidations and transfers
- Maintain personnel security records and manage security briefings
- Manage physical security zones, access controls, keys and alarms
- Conduct key musters, access reviews and physical security inspections
- Coordinate security installers, locksmiths and access-control providers
- Develop and maintain Security Risk Management Plans and assessments
- Conduct contractor and subcontractor security risk assessments
- Coordinate shipboard access and controlled-area security transition
- Liaise with Defence, Navy and Commonwealth security representatives
- Support security incident reporting, investigation and remediation
About You
To be successful in the role, you will possess the following:
- DSVS Security Officer Certification, or ability to obtain
- NV1 security clearance held or obtainable
- Defence/DISP security environment experience
- AGSVA clearance sponsorship experience
- Security risk assessment and SRMP experience
- Physical security assurance and audit experience
- Strong knowledge of DISP, PSPF requirements
- Excellent written communication for security plans
- High attention to detail and recordkeeping
- Tertiary qualification in Security or Risk (desirable but not essential)
- Existing NV1 or higher clearance (highly regarded)
- Shipbuilding or maritime Defence experience (desirable)
Due to the Security Clearance required for this position, applicants must be an Australian Citizen and eligible to obtain and uphold a NV1 Security Clearance through the Australian Department of Defence.
