The HR Analyst I, Payroll is responsible for independently performing standard payroll administration activities with limited supervision, ensuring payroll transactions, validations, reconciliations, reporting, and employee inquiries are completed accurately and within defined service levels. The role partners with HR Operations, Finance, Benefits, payroll vendors, and other stakeholders to support timely and compliant payroll delivery.

Key Responsibilities

- Process payroll transactions independently, including new hires, transfers, salary revisions, allowances, deductions, bonuses, and other payroll-related changes.
- Perform payroll validation activities by reviewing payroll calculations, exception reports, reconciliation reports, and system outputs to identify and resolve standard discrepancies.
- Execute pre-payroll and post-payroll activities, including payroll preparation, reconciliation, off-cycle payment support, retroactive adjustment support, reporting, and post-payroll validations.
- Resolve standard payroll discrepancies and employee payroll inquiries by researching payroll records, applying documented procedures, and coordinating with relevant teams where required.
- Maintain payroll master data and employee payroll records while ensuring data integrity, confidentiality, governance, and compliance with established controls.
- Prepare, validate, and distribute payroll operational reports, routine metrics, dashboards, and management reporting inputs.
- Partner with HR Operations to ensure employee lifecycle transactions are accurately reflected in payroll systems and processed within defined payroll timelines.
- Coordinate with Finance, Benefits, and external payroll providers to support payroll processing, standard issue resolution, and payroll cycle completion.
- Support payroll audits by validating payroll records, preparing documentation, and responding to standard audit evidence requests.
- Recommend process improvements and support standardization, automation, testing, documentation, and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Contribute to payroll projects, system-related activities, ad hoc analysis, and special assignments by providing operational expertise and analytical support.
- Ensure that all assigned payroll activities are executed in accordance with Xerox policies, regulatory requirements, internal controls, and service level agreements (SLAs).

Qualifications

- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Commerce, or related discipline.
- 2-4 years of experience in Payroll Operations, Shared Services, Payroll Administration, or related HR/Finance operations.
- Experience working with payroll systems and HRIS platforms such as Oracle HCM, ADP, or similar applications is preferred.
