Unit Leader - Connectivity Security
The Connectivity Security Unit Leader will define and drive Bayer's global strategy for secure connectivity, bringing together networking and cybersecurity into a single, security-first operating model. This role will be responsible for modernizing the enterprise connectivity landscape, accelerating the adoption of Zero Trust and SASE capabilities, and ensuring secure, resilient, and scalable connectivity for a global organization operating in a highly regulated environment.
As a member of the Infrastructure Platform leadership team, you will lead a globally distributed organization, shape technology strategy, partner closely with cybersecurity leadership, and drive large-scale transformation initiatives that strengthen Bayer's security posture while enabling business growth and innovation. You will also help translate Bayer's Agentic Infrastructure vision into a secure connectivity roadmap that supports the future of intelligent and autonomous infrastructure operations.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define and execute the global Connectivity Security strategy aligned with Bayer's infrastructure and cybersecurity vision.
- Lead the transformation toward a Zero Trust architecture and ensure secure-by-design principles are embedded across the enterprise in alignment with Cybersecurity Foundation policies.
- Translate Bayer's Agentic Infrastructure vision into a secure connectivity and network security roadmap.
- Drive the adoption and optimization of Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), including SWG, CASB, cloud-delivered firewall capabilities, Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), DNS security, and data loss prevention services.
- Own the secure connectivity technology landscape, including perimeter security, network segmentation, microsegmentation, secure remote access, DNS security, DDoS protection, and next-generation firewall services.
- Build and lead a high-performing global organization responsible for secure connectivity engineering, L2/L3 operations, service governance, and continuous improvement.
- Drive automation and operational excellence by modernizing security operations, streamlining firewall policy management, and leveraging AI-enabled capabilities where appropriate.
- Establish service reliability objectives, optimize operational performance, and continuously improve security and service outcomes, balancing security posture with availability and resilience.
- Partner closely with Cybersecurity Foundation, Infrastructure Platform leadership, cloud and platform teams, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable solutions.
- Govern strategic technology partners and managed service providers, ensuring accountability, quality, performance, and value realization.
- Drive the modernization and insourcing of secure connectivity operations, strengthening internal capabilities while optimizing partner engagement models.
- Lead organizational transformation initiatives that support technology modernization, operational excellence, and long-term capability building.
WHO YOU ARE
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, or a related field.
- 15+ years of experience leading large-scale network and security organizations within complex global enterprises.
- Proven track record delivering enterprise-wide Zero Trust, SASE, and secure connectivity transformation programs.
- Strong leadership experience managing global engineering and operations teams across multiple regions.
- Deep expertise in network security technologies, including Zero Trust, ZTNA, SASE, CASB, SWG, DLP, secure DNS, microsegmentation, next-generation firewalls, proxies, and DDoS protection.
- Experience with network security automation and firewall policy management solutions such as AlgoSec, Tufin, or FireMon.
- Experience with infrastructure automation, network-as-code practices, and modern connectivity platforms.
- Strong understanding of hybrid and multi-cloud networking, enterprise infrastructure, connectivity services, and modern security architectures.
- Experience operating in regulated environments and managing strategic vendor and managed service provider relationships.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCIE Security, or recognized Zero Trust / SASE certifications are considered an advantage.
- Ability to balance security, resilience, and operational continuity in complex enterprise environments, while making effective decisions during critical incidents.
- Exceptional stakeholder management, strategic thinking, and change leadership skills with the ability to influence across organizational boundaries.

At Bayer, we are committed to transparency, equal pay for equal work or work of equal value, and objective reward practices in line with EU and local regulations. The minimum monthly gross compensation for this role is 41 200 PLN, with final pay determined based on objective factors such as experience, qualifications, scope of responsibility, and internal alignment.
This position is eligible for variable pay components, such as performance‑based bonuses, awarded in accordance with the applicable employee group, role scope, and compensation structure.
