About this role

We are seeking an experienced Security Manager to lead
security operations, manage personnel and service providers, and
drive improvements in security systems and procedures.

This is a senior, hands-on role requiring sound judgement,
strong leadership, technical capability and absolute
discretion.

Key Responsibilities

Security Operations & Leadership

- Manage day-to-day security operations, access control,
perimeter protection and surveillance.
- Lead security personnel and coordinate specialist protection
and transport functions as required.
- Manage duty rosters, training, performance and operational
readiness.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement practical measures to
address vulnerabilities.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures,
emergency plans and incident response protocols.
- Lead incident responses, investigations and reporting, and
liaise with emergency services and external providers.
- Maintain accurate records, relevant regulatory compliance
and appropriate team registrations.

Close Protection & Multi-Site Coordination

- Coordinate close protection personnel, drivers and
specialist security resources across multiple sites and
assignments.
- Oversee the operational deployment of protection teams,
ensuring appropriate coverage, communication and
readiness.
- Coordinate movements, accommodation, transport and
logistical requirements for clients and protection personnel
where required.
- Respond to changing security requirements and coordinate
alternative arrangements during incidents or operational
disruptions.
- Maintain clear communication between clients, protection
personnel, management and external service providers.
- Ensure close protection activities are aligned with risk
assessments, client requirements and established security
procedures.

Technical Systems, Procurement & Implementation

- Oversee CCTV, alarms, access control and monitoring systems,
including maintenance and regular testing.
- Identify security technology requirements and recommend
appropriate solutions.
- Manage the procurement and implementation of new security
systems, from defining requirements and evaluating quotations to
coordinating installation, integration, testing and
handover.
- Manage suppliers, contractors, warranties and service
agreements.
- Ensure personnel are trained to use systems effectively and
maintain reliable reporting.

Budgeting & Financial Management

- Prepare and manage operational and capital security
budgets.
- Develop costed proposals for system upgrades, equipment and
resource requirements.
- Monitor expenditure, explain variances and forecast future
costs.
- Evaluate supplier proposals for quality, suitability and
value for money.
- Plan for ongoing maintenance and equipment
replacement.

### Requirements
Requirements

- Minimum 8 years’ experience in progressively senior security
management or operational security roles, including proven
experience managing security teams, service providers and
day-to-day security operations.
- Previous tactical experience in the military, SAPS or a
comparable operational environment.
- Valid Grade A PSIRA registration.
- A recognised qualification in Security Management or a
relevant professional certification. ISMI’s CSMP® diploma is
preferred. Alternatives considered include a recognised Security
Management diploma or degree, ASIS CPP®, or a comparable
credential.
- Proven experience coordinating close protection operations,
security personnel and/or drivers across multiple sites.
- Demonstrated experience in procuring and implementing
security systems.
- Practical experience preparing and managing budgets,
controlling costs and managing suppliers.
- Strong knowledge of physical security systems, risk
assessment, emergency planning and incident management.
- Experience managing security service providers, contractors
and specialist personnel, including performance and service
delivery.
- Experience managing high-risk or changing operational
environments, with the ability to make sound decisions and
coordinate resources under pressure.
- Excellent leadership, communication and reporting
skills.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours and respond to
emergencies at short notice.
- Contactable references and willingness to undergo relevant
background and credential checks.

Advantageous Experience

- Experience within a corporate, executive protection,
high-net-worth, diplomatic or similarly sensitive security
environment.
- Experience coordinating close protection officers, drivers
and security teams across multiple locations.
- Experience working with GSOC/SOC operations, security
monitoring platforms or integrated security systems.
- Experience managing security operations for executives, VIPs
or high-profile clients.
- Experience with security technology projects, system
integrations and automation.
- Experience developing or reviewing security policies, SOPs,
emergency response plans and business continuity
measures.
