Production Engineering Technician (Controls/Robotics)

Overview

The Production Engineering Technician supports manufacturing operations through process improvement, automation support, equipment troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. This individual will work closely with production teams to optimize cycle times, improve product quality, support robotic welding operations, and implement countermeasures for production issues. This role offers long-term growth opportunities within engineering and manufacturing leadership.

Responsibilities

- Program, teach, and troubleshoot industrial robotic systems.
- Support robotic welding operations including setup, programming, teaching, and process optimization.
- Evaluate weld quality and assist in identifying and resolving welding-related defects.
- Analyze manufacturing processes and implement improvements related to cycle time, quality, stability, and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot production equipment and automated systems to minimize downtime.
- Develop and implement countermeasures for quality and production issues.
- Adjust equipment and manufacturing processes to accommodate changes in raw materials or production requirements.
- Repair and modify fixtures to support manufacturing operations.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on process optimization and production flow.
- Collect and analyze production data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Generate reports and presentations outlining project progress, root cause analysis, and improvement activities.
- Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to support manufacturing goals.

Essential Skills

- Experience with robotics programming, teaching, and troubleshooting.
- OR experience with controls and PLC troubleshooting.
- Understanding of robotic welding processes.
- Ability to evaluate weld quality and identify quality concerns.
- Experience with root cause analysis and process improvement activities.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience using measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other common computer applications.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally within a manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or Technical Certificate in Engineering, Automation, Robotics, Electrical Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience within a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience with Yaskawa robots preferred.
- Experience with Mitsubishi PLCs preferred; candidates with other PLC experience will be considered.
- Welding or robotic welding experience highly preferred.
- Continuous improvement, manufacturing engineering, automation, controls, or robotics experience preferred.
- Automotive manufacturing experience is beneficial but not required.

Work Environment

- Combination of manufacturing floor and office environment.
- Frequent interaction with production associates, maintenance personnel, and engineering teams.
- Standard hours are typically 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
- Overtime may be required based on production needs and equipment issues.
- May occasionally be required to stay late or support production during off-shift situations.

Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of South Charleston, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $58000.00 - $78000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. 401(k) company match up to 4%.
Tuition reimbursement available after two years of employment.

$0.66/hour attendance incentive pay.
