Job Title: Survey Crew Chief Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Survey Crew Chief to join our Indiana operations. The Survey Crew Chief will play a crucial role in measuring, inspecting, updating, and documenting various types of surveys using specialized instruments. These surveys are vital for creating topographical maps, boundary surveys, and facilitating construction layouts. This position is based in Central Indiana and represents a long-term strategic opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Set up, adjust, and operate equipment used at surveying job sites.
- Measure, record, and calculate data based on readings from instruments.
- Lay out and recover markings, stakes, and other signifiers at job sites.
- Maintain survey monument tie sheets, including horizontal and vertical data.
- Perform surveying calculations, including traverses and level loops.
- Conduct land surveys for maintenance, location, and relocation of section corners.
- Perform construction surveys for roads, bridges, development sites, and buildings.
- Conduct surveys to establish property boundaries and rights-of-way.
- Resolve title discrepancies through surveying.
- Perform basic field calculations, including closing and adjusting level loops.
- Utilize various instruments, such as levels, total stations, and GPS equipment.
- Ensure daily downloading of field data from data collectors.
- Check as-built conditions using surveying techniques.
- Prepare documentation of survey activities.
- Maintain and adjust surveying equipment.
- Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
- Compile notes, sketches, and records of data obtained and work performed.
Essential Skills
- 5-10 years of field surveying experience.
- Proficiency utilizing Trimble equipment.
- Experience conducting ALTA and construction staking surveys.
- Willingness to travel out of town when needed, occasionally overnight.
- Experience with AutoCAD and survey calculations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- UAV license is a plus.
- AutoCAD proficiency is a plus.

This role involves working outdoors in all weather conditions. Regular construction hours are from 7 AM to 4 PM. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $42.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
