About this role

The Maintence Tech is responsible for the overall upkeep, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of hotel equipment and facilities in accordance with Shaner Hotels and applicable franchise standards. This position will primarily focus on commercial refrigeration, ice machines, industrial chiller systems, air handling units, and general hotel maintenance.

The ideal candidate is customer-service oriented, mechanically skilled, and willing to go the extra mile to help provide a safe, comfortable, and memorable guest experience.

- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on ice machines, refrigeration units, air handling units, chillers, and other mechanical equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment and building maintenance issues and identify appropriate solutions.
- Perform general maintenance and repairs throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas.
- Follow established maintenance programs, preventative maintenance schedules, and cleaning schedules.
- Maintain standards of quality, cleanliness, and appearance throughout daily assignments.
- Respond to guest maintenance concerns and complaints promptly and professionally, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Observe all house rules, safety regulations, departmental procedures, and security procedures.
- Assist with inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment as scheduled.
- Properly handle, store, and dispose of maintenance chemicals and materials.
- Maintain accurate records of completed maintenance and preventative maintenance activities as required.
- Assist other departments and hotel personnel with maintenance-related needs as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

- Minimum of two years of maintenance experience, preferably in a hotel or commercial setting; franchised hotel experience is a plus.
- Strong background in commercial refrigeration, including knowledge of ice machines and refrigeration systems.
- Working knowledge of industrial chiller systems and air handling units.
- Basic working knowledge of general building maintenance, mechanical systems, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and related equipment.
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment critical to the operation of a hotel or commercial building.
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling, storage, and disposal procedures.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple requests, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and provide prompt, practical solutions.
- Ability to interact positively and professionally with guests, hotel personnel, vendors, and management.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedural manuals, and related documents.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe and clean hotel environment.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.
