Located in beautiful western Washington, we are on the scenic Olympic Peninsula, offering easy access to the Pacific Ocean, forests, rivers, and outdoor recreation.

Quinault Wellness Center support patients receiving substance use disorder treatment while helping connect physical health, behavioral health, and recovery. You will w ork alongside healthcare providers, nurses, behavioral health professionals, substance use disorder professionals, dental staff, transportation drivers, childcare workers and other members of an interdisciplinary care team.

As a Medical Assistant, you will work under the direction and license of the applicable healthcare provider to support the examination, treatment, and care of patients. Your responsibilities will include:

- Welcome and room patients while creating a respectful and supportive experience.

- Obtain and accurately document vital signs and other patient information.

- Prepare examination and treatment rooms and maintain a clean, safe, organized clinical environment.

- Assist healthcare providers with examinations, treatments, and procedures within your scope of training and licensure.

- Perform phlebotomy and collect blood and other specimens.

- Conduct routine laboratory, screening, and diagnostic testing.

- Perform EKGs and operate medical equipment appropriate to the position.

- Administer injections and delegated treatments within your scope of practice.

- Provide wound care as directed by the healthcare provider.

- Prepare, label, document, and transport specimens according to applicable requirements.

- Assist with medication-related services and authorizations.

- Coordinate referrals and assist patients with scheduling additional services.

- Monitor and track drug-control testing while maintaining strict confidentiality and chain-of-custody requirements.

- Maintain accurate electronic health records and clinical documentation.

- Protect patient privacy and comply with HIPAA and applicable 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality requirements.

- Provide culturally responsive, compassionate care that recognizes the impact of trauma, family, community, culture, and individual circumstances on health and recovery.

- Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

- Assist with other duties and assignments as needed to support patient care and the organization.

The Medical Assistant supports healthcare professionals in examination, treatment, and patient care while performing both clinical and administrative responsibilities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

- Washington State Licensed Medical Assistant in good standing.

- At least one year of phlebotomy experience or documented phlebotomy training.

- Knowledge of current medical practices in primary care, mental health, and addiction medicine.

- Knowledge of substance use disorder and its effects on individuals, families, and communities.

- Experience with Electronic Health Records and healthcare computer applications.

- Knowledge of HIPAA, PHI, and applicable confidentiality requirements, including 42 CFR Part 2.

- Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural healthcare environment.

- Ability to recognize and respect the role trauma, history, family, culture, community, and individual circumstances can play in health and recovery.

- Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

- Ability to work collaboratively with patients, providers, staff, community partners, and outside agencies.

Preferred

- Previous experience in substance use disorder treatment and/or primary care.

- Experience working in an integrated healthcare environment involving primary care, behavioral health, or substance use disorder services.
