About the role

As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the business through its next phase of growth, ensuring financial and operational tasks are carried out effectively and in a timely manner.
Working within a high-volume finance environment, you’ll play a key role across reconciliations, purchase & sales ledger, whilst also gaining valuable exposure to month-end processes and management accounts support. The business can offer genuine long-term development, making this an ideal role for someone looking to progress within Finance and gain valuable experience across all areas.

Role Responsibilities

- Assisting with month-end processes including journals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets and supporting management accounts preparation as experience develops.

- Management of aged debtors and credit control – undertaking sales invoicing, chasing overdue payments and maximising cash collection across all customers

- Management of aged creditors and supplier payments – reconciling supplier statements, keeping the purchase ledger accurate and up to date and processing payment runs

- Bank reconciliations - Completing daily bank reconciliations of multiple bank accounts and investigating discrepancies.

- Overseeing company expenses – in particular staff company card spend, ensuring all expenditure is authorised, coded and within policy

- Dealing with other general ad hoc queries and assisting staff worldwide with day-to-day queries

- Support intercompany accounting processes, ensuring balances reconcile correctly and reporting requirements are maintained.

Experience and Skill Requirements

- Part-qualified, finalist accountant, or newly qualified (ACCA/CIMA)

- Previous experience within an Assistant Accountant, Finance Assistant or similar finance role.

- Strong IT skills with Microsoft Excel essential, including confident use of SUMIFS & XLOOKUP and/or VLOOKUP along with other knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office 365 suite

- A proactive self-starter with a can-do attitude, willing to contribute and share ideas to consistently improve processes and increase efficiency

- Strives to embrace change, enjoys a fast-paced environment, reacts well to pressure, and welcomes new ideas

- Ability to find opportunities outside of those presented through self-motivation and diligence

- Positive attitude with realistic expectations

- Takes pride in their work with good attention to detail
