Job Title : Engineering, Coordinator
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, carry out drafting assignments of a routine to moderately complex nature.Convert product design sketches into working documents by digitizing with Computer Aided Design (CAD) to enable a CAD operator to complete related computer entry. Produce complete drawings, review engineering drawings and support documentation. Work with various departments to optimize production output, reduce costs, increase part quality and ensure all required tools and documentation required in the plant for production run jobs are available.
Performance Expectations
- Conduct time studies to optimize cycle counts of existing processes.
- Recognize and resolve tooling related difficulties with existing and new projects while working with the manufacturing support staff.
- Recognize and resolve process related difficulties with current and future projects.
- Planning and executing of projects related to new and pre-existing production lines, improvements, upgrades, layouts, and new equipment related to machining or assembly.
- Investigate and find resolution of specific processing problems for assigned projects/parts.
- Develop, review, and train shop floor personnel on all processes and operator instructions to ensure accuracy and conformance to actual procedures; revise as needed.
- Participate in corrective action process to meet ongoing cost, quality and delivery requirements.
- Assist in development of process flows, process sheets, FMEA’s, and control plans.
- Attend Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and participate in Customer Focus Meetings.
- Conduct studies of the reliability and performance of plant facilities and productions or administrative systems
- Ensure that all engineering documents are kept updated and record the correct revision.
- Management of ECR system including completion of ECRs
- Design any data sheets that need to be implemented for documentation.
- Manage customer drawings and prepare and log internal drawings (process spec, tooling drawings).
- Must understand machining processes to assist with process flow diagrams.
- Other duties as required.
Credentials
- A university degree or diploma in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or equivalent expertise gained through professional experience, training, or certifications.
Desired Characteristics
- A minimum of two year of experience in a machining or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read schematics, assembly drawings, blueprints, product specifications and geometric dimensioning tolerance (GD&T). Ability to enter personal scheduling details, tracking information and materials' details into tables and onto forms. Obtain project details and materials information from tables.
- Ability to take precise measurements using specialized equipment and techniques.
- Ability to decide presentation of additional design details in tables attached to drawing sets, considering how construction or manufacturing employees will use them and what format will be easy for them to use.
- Possess excellent analytical skills to collect data and develop statistics to describe equipment and system functionality.
- Ability to determine which materials and equipment to use for projects and decide the appropriate codes and standards to apply when completing these projects.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with others such as supervisors or managers for advice and direction, to discuss work and provide updates.
- Ability to coordinate and integrate work within teams of engineers and technicians to work on common projects, assume project management roles to coordinate the involvement of other engineers, contractors, technicians, and suppliers.
- Ability to work in a team setting environment in order to interact with technicians or technologists for tasks such as creating scale drawings, preparing specifications, writing proposals and developing plant maintenance schedules.
- Expert knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks or related 3D engineering modeling software, MS Excel and MS Word.
