Job Title: Assistant Project Manager / Entry-Level Estimator – Marine Construction Job Description
This entry-level role offers an excellent opportunity to start a career in construction project management as an assistant project manager and estimator within a marine construction environment. You will support the planning, estimating, and coordination of both public and private projects, while receiving comprehensive training in construction and estimating practices. This position is ideal for someone early in their professional journey who is interested in building a long-term career in project management.
Responsibilities
- Assist with estimating marine construction projects, learning and applying company processes and industry best practices through on-the-job training.
- Support project managers with day-to-day project coordination for both public and private projects, ensuring tasks and documentation are organized and completed on time.
- Prepare, update, and maintain project-related documents, spreadsheets, and reports using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Communicate professionally via email and Outlook with internal team members, external partners, and stakeholders to share information and follow up on project-related items.
- Help track project progress, timelines, and deliverables, escalating issues or delays to project leadership as needed.
- Gather and organize project data to support bids, estimates, and proposals for marine construction work.
- Collaborate with project management and construction teams to understand scopes of work, project requirements, and client expectations.
- Learn and adhere to company policies, procedures, and standards related to project management and construction operations.
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment and demonstrate a long-term interest in growing into a full project manager role.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of professional work experience in any field, demonstrating reliability, accountability, and workplace professionalism.
- Strong interest in construction project management and a desire to build a long-term career in this discipline.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to use Microsoft Excel to create and update spreadsheets, track data, and support project estimates.
- Solid email etiquette and professional written communication skills for interacting with colleagues and external contacts.
- Ability to learn new concepts related to construction and estimating without requiring prior industry experience.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, documents, and deadlines in a project-based environment.
- Attention to detail when working with project data, documentation, and estimates.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, particularly in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field.
- Interest or coursework in construction management or project management is a plus.
- Familiarity with project coordination or project management tools and processes is beneficial.
- Motivation to grow into a project manager role and remain with the company long-term.
- Ability to commute to Westhampton Beach and work on site in an office-based role.

The role is based in an office located in Westhampton Beach, in a marine construction setting. The location offers a manageable commute from many areas on Long Island and typically aligns with traffic patterns opposite of rush hour, making daily travel more convenient. You will work in a professional office environment using standard business technologies such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel to support project management and estimating activities. The company has a long-established presence in the industry, with over five decades of operation, and is focused on developing employees into long-term project management professionals. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. -- Attractive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, 401k)
