Job Title: Sample Prep Technician Job Description
This temporary Sample Prep Technician role supports quality operations through accurate data entry and sample preparation in a food manufacturing facility. The position runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and is expected to last approximately 2–3 months, with the possibility of being hired on after the project concludes. You will play a key role in ensuring samples are properly received, prepared, documented, and processed according to established procedures and standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform accurate and timely data entry to support quality and laboratory records.
- Receive incoming samples and verify documentation and labeling are complete and correct.
- Prepare samples for testing following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and laboratory guidelines.
- Organize, file, and maintain paperwork and records related to sample intake and preparation.
- Assist lab technicians with routine tasks to ensure efficient workflow in the laboratory.
- Follow all SOPs and quality standards to maintain consistency and reliability of sample handling.
- Manage sample processing from intake through preparation, ensuring traceability and proper documentation.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area within the laboratory and production environment.
- Communicate clearly with quality and laboratory staff regarding sample status, issues, or discrepancies.
- Support overall quality initiatives by providing accurate data and properly prepared samples for analysis.
Essential Skills
- Proven data entry skills with strong accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience with sample preparation and intake in a laboratory or quality-focused environment.
- Basic laboratory experience, including familiarity with routine lab practices and procedures.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) consistently and precisely.
- Strong organizational skills for filing paperwork and maintaining records.
- Capability to assist lab technicians with day-to-day laboratory tasks.
- Effective time management to handle multiple samples and tasks within a set schedule.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in a laboratory setting, particularly in sample receiving and preparation.
- Background in a food manufacturing or quality assurance environment.
- Comfort working with structured documentation and record-keeping systems.
- Reliability and professionalism in a contract role with potential for longer-term opportunities.
Work Environment
This role is based in a food manufacturing facility that includes laboratory and production areas. You work a daytime shift from Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., supporting a project expected to last 2–3 months. The environment follows strict quality and safety standards, with established SOPs guiding sample handling and laboratory activities. You can expect to work around food products and laboratory equipment, collaborating closely with quality and lab personnel in a structured, process-driven setting.

This is a Contract position based out of New Berlin, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
