What You will Do:
This role is a digital tool development lead in Plant Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Systems team, supporting our customer GE Hitachi Nuclear. Leads preparation and implementation of a software-based engineering data management program used to consolidate design basis records — including inputs, outputs, cabinet wiring, functions, and setpoints — for distributed control and information systems (DCIS) installed in nuclear facilities. This role is a key member of a cross-functional team including I&C engineering and IT development teams. This role supports architecture and design activities including validating engineering data structures, workflows, and system outputs accurately reflect source design documentation.

· Support other GE businesses, supplier, and internal / external customers
· Serve as a recognized leader in defining the state of the art in own technical specialty in order to anticipate, develop and apply technology to current and future business opportunities
· Provide engineering support, within one’s specialty, to teams working on performance, cost reduction and quality initiatives
· Leverage expertise to resolve problems in the field or during the manufacturing processes
· Make recommendations after analysis of the data using quality tools
· Protect the Intellectual Property rights of the Company
· Function as program manager when appropriate
· Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers
· Develop and implement training modules as necessary
Additional Essential Responsibilities:
· Support the architecture, design, development, and ongoing operation of a database-driven engineering data management tool used to consolidate I&C system design basis records for reactor instrumentation & control systems
· Serve as a technical liaison between the I&C engineering team and the software development team, helping translate engineering data requirements into validated system design and database records
· Assist with defining, testing, and validating data structures, business rules, and workflows within a Microsoft SQL Server-based system
· Perform QA/QC reviews of database content, configuration, and outputs to verify accuracy of I&C design data against source engineering documents
· Support the development, documentation, and maintenance of processes, procedures, and guides for populating and maintaining the design basis database across the project lifecycle
· Participate in testing (unit, integration, user acceptance) of new features and enhancements to the database and web-based user interface
· Support development of training materials and provide guidance to end users (I&C engineers) on tool usage and data entry standards
· Interpret applicable nuclear regulatory requirements and industry standards to help ensure the database/tool design supports compliant configuration control
· Partner with IT, software development, and other engineering disciplines to align on requirements, priorities, and release planning
· Participate in Agile/Scrum/Kanban ceremonies, representing engineering stakeholder ("the Customer") interests to the software development team
· Support the development and maintenance of plans, schedules, and budgets for sub-projects that interface with this program
Candidate Qualifications :
· Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
· Minimum of 5 additional years of experience in an engineering position
· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent technical discipline.
· Experience with control systems, instrumentation, or IT cabinet wiring, including familiarity with wire lists, runlists, and cabinet/panel configuration documentation
· Required: Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (or equivalent RDBMS) — database design, querying, and data validation
· Working understanding of software development practices and the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
· Ability to analyze technical specifications and design documentation to validate data accuracy and completeness
· Ability to work effectively across disciplines and contribute as part of a larger, cross-functional team
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliverables on a compressed contract timeline
· Nuclear industry experience preferred
· Familiarity with NRC, DOE, DHS, IEC, ISO, or CNSC regulatory requirements preferred

· Familiarity with Agile/Scrum/Kanban methodologies, particularly from an engineering "customer"/stakeholder role
· Familiarity with GitLab or similar tools for requirements management and deployment tracking
· Experience authoring or executing test cases, validation protocols, or traceability records
· Familiarity with the use of AI in product/software development
· Strong attention to detail and comfort reviewing large data sets for accuracy
· Proficient in MS Office tools
· Ability to ramp up quickly and work independently in a short-term contract capacity
Pay Range: $100,000 - $130,000
Compensation decisions are made based on factors including experience, skills, education, and other job-related factors, in accordance with our internal pay structure. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plan.
Work Requirements:
(Onsite): This role is considered an on-site position located in Willmington, NC
Travel Requirements:
Due to the nature of the work, 15-25% of travel is required.
