About this role
We are looking for a Senior Associate to join our growing and dynamic Corporate team at Ogier. The ideal candidate will be able to provide technically sound legal advice on a range of issues, whilst building and maintaining productive relationships with clients and intermediaries.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technically sound, well-structured legal advice;
- Draft clear and accurate documentation with attention to detail, ensuring work is compliant with procedures and standard documents;
- Build and maintain productive working relationships with clients, intermediaries and team members, and provide excellent client service;
- Prepare fee matter estimates and proposals;
- Ensure timeliness of billing and debt collection;
- Demonstrate excellent organisation and ensure effective management of time, effort and resources to generate maximum efficiencies;
- Consider regulatory and compliance issues at all times and report any concerns to senior management as appropriate;
- Contribute to knowledge management and AI adoption and ensure contributions are accurate and current;
- Build knowledge and experience in relevant practice areas to the highest standards;
- Understand Legal Business plan and Strategic plan;
- Provide support, guidance and mentoring to more junior members of the team; and
- Contribute to internal projects (including any initiatives identified and designated by Heads of Service Line, Partners or Director of Business Development).
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Qualified Lawyer with a minimum of 6+ years' post qualification experience;
- LLB (Hons) from a reputable tertiary institution and strong academics, all with a minimum grade of 2:1 or equivalent;
- Experience with a leading law firm in the areas of Corporate & Commercial work with particular exposure to downstream private equity transactions, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate advisory;
- Must have experience of Cayman corporate procedures such as statutory mergers, schemes of arrangement, capital reorganisations and continuations, or equivalent onshore procedures in the jurisdiction in which experience has been acquired;
- Must have a thorough understanding of corporate structures including exempted companies, exempted limited partnerships, segregated portfolio companies, limited liability companies and foundation companies, or the equivalent structures in the jurisdiction in which experience has been acquired;
- Experience in leading on matters and supervising more junior team members is essential;
- Good interpersonal skills, effective communicator, strong influencing skills;
- Excellent time management skills;
- Strong relationship management and client care skills;
- Ability to work effectively in a team; and
- Excellent drafting skills with high attention to detail and the ability to be succinct.
