Job Title: Reliability Engineer - Naval Job Description This role focuses on providing in-service reliability support for naval systems and fleets of vessels, ensuring high levels of reliability, availability, and maintainability. You will take ownership of the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of reliability software used on the program, while supporting failure reporting, analysis, and corrective actions across the asset lifecycle. The position combines technical reliability engineering, integrated logistics support, and project management in a marine and defence environment. Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive in-service reliability support for fleets of vessels operated by national naval and coast guard organizations, with a strong focus on reliability, availability, and maintainability.
- Configure, maintain, and optimize reliability software used on the program to support failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action processes.
- Analyze reliability data and failure reports to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for system improvement using the designated reliability software or equivalent tools.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, service delivery, and quality teams to develop and implement corrective and preventive actions based on reliability insights.
- Develop and maintain clear documentation, including procedures, technical reports, and reliability metrics, to support program performance and compliance.
- Support equipment health monitoring and conduct reliability assessments throughout the entire asset lifecycle.
- Train and support end users on the effective use of reliability software, including best practices for failure reporting, analysis, and corrective actions.
- Participate in reliability reviews and contribute actively to continuous improvement programs aimed at enhancing system performance and supportability.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, internal policies, and customer requirements related to reliability engineering and in-service support.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for both hardware and software systems, as well as for reliability software configuration issues.
- Apply integrated logistics support (ILS) principles to reliability and maintainability activities for naval systems.
- Support project management activities related to reliability and in-service support, including planning, coordination, and reporting.
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in reliability engineering and/or integrated logistics support (ILS), with demonstrable expertise in reliability, availability, maintainability, corrective maintenance, and preventive maintenance.
- Strong experience in marine, naval, or defence environments, working with naval systems and related equipment.
- Hands-on experience with failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action processes.
- Proficiency in using reliability software tools for configuration management, data analysis, and reporting.
- Experience applying preventive and corrective maintenance strategies to complex marine or naval systems.
- Project management experience, including coordinating technical activities and delivering on program objectives.
- Ability to analyze technical data, identify trends and root causes, and recommend practical corrective and preventive actions.
- Experience working on defence contracts and/or defence programs.
- Bachelor of Engineering degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Naval Architecture, or another relevant engineering discipline
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing documentation, reports, and training materials.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, service delivery, and quality functions.
Assets
- Experience with integrated logistics support (ILS) for naval or marine systems.
- Familiarity with reliability metrics and health monitoring techniques for complex assets.
- Understanding of industry standards and customer requirements related to reliability and in-service support.
- Experience conducting reliability reviews and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to train and mentor end users on reliability software usage and best practices.
- Comfort working in both office and operational marine environments, including dockyards and onboard ships.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when managing configuration, documentation, and reporting.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks and priorities within a project-driven environment.
Work Environment This is a hybrid role, with approximately three days per week in the office and two days working remotely. The work is predominantly office-based, involving analysis, documentation, and collaboration with engineering and support teams. You will also be required to work in dockyards and onboard naval ships, including inspections in machinery spaces that may involve climbing, bending, and navigating confined or complex areas. The standard workweek is 40 hours, with flexible scheduling around core hours of 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., supporting a balanced and professional work environment focused on high-quality engineering and in-service support.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $62.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
