Inspections Apprentice

Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers is looking for an Inspections Apprentice in our Ocoee branch. The Inspections Apprentice at Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers, Inc. assists with completing walk through inspections on sprinkler systems in commercial, retail and multi-family properties. This role involves performing all types of inspections while on-site, with the goal that all work is to be completed in a timely, accurate, and safe manner, and in compliance with current NFPA standards and WAFS standards. The Apprentice works directly under the guidance of the inspection foreman.

Position Responsibilities:

- Follow procedures and direction from the inspection foreman throughout inspections, documenting deficiencies and observations, according to current NFPA standards.

- Assist with the completion of walk-through inspections, fire pump flow test, fire hydrant flow test, testing backflows, tripping and resetting dry and pre-action valves.

- Take detailed notes while assisting inspection Foreman with inspections

- Perform maintenance and some replacement work on system components, such as valves, gauges, flow switches, tamper switches, etc.

- Proactively notify the inspectors of any issues, concerns, or changes on the existing job sites.

- Comply with all WAFS work and safety rules and proper safety protocols on the job sites.

- Load the trucks with all necessary materials, tags, seals, and other inspection equipment needed.

- Responsible for the care, maintenance, and safekeeping of assigned tools and equipment.

- Wear a clean company provided uniform at all times.

- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.

- Enroll in Wayne Academy for the necessary inspection training classes.

- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Attend monthly safety meetings at the local branch.

- Working outside on job sites for long hours in all seasons, including summer months.

- Physical requirements include standing, sitting, bending, lifting, and climbing. Lifting will include up to 70 pounds.

Qualifications

What are the Qualifications for this position?

- Construction experience is preferred but not required.

- Basic knowledge of hand tools

- Travel within the local community is required.

- Must possess the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

- The ideal candidate will be organized, professional, and a good communicator.

- Must be able to wear proper protective equipment as required on all job sites.

- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and pre-employment background check screening, including 10 years of employment verification, is required to be hired at Wayne Automatic.
