Summary of Job Function: Teaches secondary school subjects in grades six (6) through twelve (12) to students with emotional, behavioral, and/or learning disorders.

Essential Functions:

- Plans and prepares lessons and other instructional materials daily to meet individual need of  students, considering state and school requirements, physical, emotional, and educational levels  of development. 2.  Confers with parents, administrators, school counselors, Innerchange staff, testing  specialists, social worker, and others to develop individual educational program, obtain  schedules, and to discuss student progress and needs for student.  3.  Instructs students in all academic and elective subjects.  4.  Creates learning materials geared to each student's ability and interest.  5.  Reports student grades and absences to home school at the end of each grading period.  6.  Observes students for signs of disruptive behavioral such as violence, verbal outbursts, and  episodes of destructiveness and determines appropriate course of action when behavior is  inappropriate in accordance with Master Service Plan.  7.  Works with students to increase motivation, provide consistent reinforcement to learning,  continuous assessment of level of functioning, and continuous feedback to student for all  learning activities.  8.  Oversee safety of clients and directs emergency situations that may arise during shift.  9.  May occasionally be called upon to verbally intervene or redirect clients exhibiting  inappropriate or aggressive behavior.  10. May occasionally be called upon to therapeutically restrain a client imminent danger of  harming himself/herself and/or others. 11. Other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications:

1. Education, Certification/License, and/or Experience

a.  Bachelors degree from fouryear college or university.

b.  West Virginia Teaching Certificate in grades 6  12

c.  Drivers license and reliable transportation is required.

d.  Obtain and maintain CPR/FA and CPI certifications.

2. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general  business  periodicals,  professional  journals,  technical  procedures,  or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports and business correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the  general public.  Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions,  and  decimals. Ability  to  interpret  a  variety  of  instructions  furnished  in  written,  oral,  diagram, or schedule form.
