JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Child Care Teacher (Floater) DEPARTMENT : Child Care

CLASSIFICATION : Non-Exempt CATEGORY: Essential

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Responsible for implementing classroom activities either in the absence of a teacher or on a daily basis in place of a teacher as needed.

- Design and follow a full schedule of activities and discover suitable teaching material

- Responsible for overall supervision and daily class functionality

- Balance your teaching between logical and social exercises

- Provide basic care and caregiving activities

- Use a wide range of teaching methods (stories, media, indoor or outdoor games, drawing etc) to enhance the child's abilities

- Support emotional wellbeing of the children

- Remain in constant communication with parents and update them on the progress of their children

- Observe children's interactions and promote the spirit of concord

- Identify behavioral problems and determine the right course of action

- Collaborate with other colleagues

- Adhere with teaching standards and safety regulations as established by organization policies and procedure

- Supervise children at all times - in classroom, on playground, on field trips, during parties, etc.

- Report all injuries/accidents occurring during shift to Center Director

- Be willing to gain more knowledge, experience, and training in the field of Early Childhood Development by attending Center staff meetings and local, state, regional, and national child care meetings/training.

- Maintain client, employee, and agency confidentiality.

- Maintain classroom in a clean and orderly manner.

- Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS :

- BS or AA in Early Childhood Development, Child Development Associate (CDA), Certificate of Mastery (CoM), Certified Childcare Professional (CCP), or willingness to obtain CDA/CoM/CCP within 18 months of hire.

- At least one year of experience as classroom teacher in child care setting

- Excellent knowledge of child development and up-to-date education methods

- Ability to create lesson plans

- Patience, flexibility and love for children

- Strong communication and time management skills

- Certificate in mandatory reporter, first aid and CPR or willing to obtain within the first month of employment.

- Be able to lift children assigned to your care multiple times daily

- Must pass enhanced background check

SUPERVISION :

- S upervised by the Child Care Center Director.

SALARY LEVEL :

- Annual Salary Range: $35,235 - $47,569
