About this role

Objective

The Materials Planner/Buyer is a position of intermediate to advanced ability required to perform the duties of forecast review, MRP analysis and inventory control, to include placement of purchase orders and maintenance of proper inventory levels through running various reports and communicating and negotiating requirements with suppliers.

Essential Functions

- Maintain current forecasting updates. Continually review forecasting reports and parameters to satisfy customer requirements within supplier lead times.

- Run MRP updates and protocols on a regularly scheduled basis.

- Modify and update MRP parameters to maintain optimum inventory levels.

- Prepare buy, expedite and de-expedite reports. Take necessary actions based on report analysis. Place orders, cancel orders, delay or expedite orders as needed.

- Continually review all raw part, tooling and raw material inventory parameters and levels to make necessary adjustments as required.

- Develop a strategy for optimal inventory levels.

- Review supplier shipping documents (cargo releases) and communicate approved releases.

- Continually communicate with sales regarding problem parts, updated shipping schedules.

- Solicit customer forecast changes from sales and update Forecasting software, MRP parameters and purchase orders as needed.

- Communicate with sales, our supplier commitments of parts going obsolete to minimize any impact to Ramco.

- Work on special projects as directed by management.

- Abide by the guidelines and embrace the principles of the Ramco employee manual

Qualifications

Preferred Skills

- Two or more years of related experience

- Experience with inside sales and customer requirements.

- Experience in the requirements of the automotive and heavy truck industries.

- Understanding of overseas supply chain.

- General knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes

- Interpersonal and communication skills

- Mathematical aptitude

- Must be able to tolerate high stress

Required Education

- Bachelors degree in supply chain or related field

- In lieu of degree relative experience meeting essential functions
