Clinical Scientist

Position Summary

The clinical scientist will support clinical development programs through data-driven insights, analysis, and high-impact visual communication. This role is responsible for retina development and trials data analysis, parsing and interpreting clinical trial data, generating figures and presentations, and supporting data review activities to inform study execution and development strategy.

The individual will work closely with Biostatistics, Data Management, and Clinical Operations to ensure data quality, consistency, and usability. Success in this role requires strong programming and data visualization skills, along with the ability to translate complex clinical data into clear, actionable insights for both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

- Maintains a strong understanding of the therapeutic disease area(s) and drug candidates, including underlying disease biology, clinical manifestations, mechanism of action, and the evolving competitive landscape.

- Applies scientific and clinical expertise to propose, design, and execute clinical research and development studies across early- and late-stage assets; develops and communicates evidence-based clinical development strategies grounded in relevant scientific literature.

- Demonstrates strong analytical understanding of clinical study objectives and design, including their implications for data analysis and interpretation; proactively identifies potential risks, trends, anomalies, and data quality issues and develops appropriate mitigation strategies.

- Collaborates cross-functionally with Biostatistics, Data Management, Clinical Operations, and external vendors to support data cleaning, reconciliation, tracking, and quality oversight, including laboratory, imaging, and other clinical data.

- Contributes to key clinical study documents and deliverables, including protocols, statistical analysis plan (SAP) support materials, clinical study reports (CSRs), DSURs and interim analyses.

- Develops clear, concise, and visually compelling scientific and clinical materials tailored to senior leadership, study teams, investigators, and governance forums.

- Performs ongoing review of emerging safety, efficacy, and operational data to identify meaningful findings and support timely study and program decisions.

- Synthesizes and communicates complex clinical data and scientific insights in a clear, structured, and clinically relevant manner, providing actionable recommendations to support cross-functional and leadership decision-making.

Qualifications

- Advanced degree preferred in life sciences (i.e., PhD, PharmD, MD), quantitative sciences, or related field.

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical development, clinical data analysis, programming, DSMB or DMC support or related analytics roles.

- Proficiency in programming languages such as SAS, R, Python, SQL, or similar tools.

- Demonstrated ability to generate high-quality visualizations, tables, and presentations from clinical datasets.

- Experience with Data Visualization tools (R-Shiny, Power BI, Tableau or AI based tools) is a plus

- Working knowledge of clinical trial design, operations, GCP, and clinical data structures.

- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data clearly.

- Expertise in Ophthalmology and Neuroscience is preferred.

Working Conditions

This position is based in an office setting and requires in-person presence. Job may additionally require incumbent to be available outside of these hours to handle priority business needs. Approximately 10% travel may be required.
