Safety Specialist Job Description The Safety Specialist develops, implements, and maintains comprehensive safety programs for complex construction projects in highly regulated environments. This role focuses on aligning site-specific safety plans with OSHA, FDA, and pharmaceutical industry standards while supporting project teams to ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient worksite. Responsibilities

- Develop and implement site-specific safety plans that align with OSHA, FDA, and pharmaceutical industry standards.
- Conduct detailed risk assessments to identify hazards related to chemical handling, cleanroom construction, and specialized equipment installation.
- Monitor compliance with safety protocols by ensuring contractors and subcontractors follow established procedures, PPE requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Perform regular site inspections and safety audits of construction areas to identify unsafe practices, equipment misuse, or environmental risks.
- Investigate incidents, including accidents, near-misses, and safety violations, and lead root-cause analyses to determine corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate and deliver safety training programs on topics such as hazardous materials, confined space entry, and emergency response procedures.
- Manage safety-related documentation by maintaining accurate records of safety audits, permits, incident reports, and compliance certifications.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and quality assurance teams to integrate safety considerations into all phases of construction.
- Promote a strong safety culture on site by engaging with field personnel, reinforcing best practices, and encouraging proactive hazard reporting.

Essential Skills

- Proven ability to develop and implement safety plans in alignment with OSHA, FDA, and pharmaceutical industry standards.
- Experience conducting risk assessments for chemical handling, cleanroom construction, and specialized equipment installation.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety requirements.
- Demonstrated experience monitoring compliance with safety protocols, PPE requirements, and regulatory guidelines on construction sites.
- Skilled in performing site inspections and safety audits to identify unsafe practices, equipment misuse, and environmental risks.
- Experience leading incident investigations and root-cause analyses for accidents, near-misses, and safety violations.
- Ability to design and deliver safety training programs, including topics such as hazardous materials, confined spaces, and emergency response.
- Proficiency in managing safety documentation, including safety audits, permits, incident reports, and compliance certifications.
- Effective collaboration skills to work with engineers, project managers, and quality assurance teams to integrate safety into construction activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety or a closely related field.
- 0–2 years of experience working as a safety specialist in a construction environment.
- Current OSHA 30 certification.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Pleasant, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $52.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
