Quality Control Chemist

Job Title: Quality Control Chemist Job Description The Quality Control Chemist performs analytical testing and compendial analysis to support pharmaceutical products across raw materials, intermediates, and finished dosage forms. This role focuses on executing USP methods using a range of laboratory instrumentation, ensuring data integrity and compliance with GMP and GDP requirements, and contributing to method verification, transfer, troubleshooting, and development activities. The chemist also supports stability studies, validation work, and continuous improvement initiatives within a modern, growing laboratory environment. Responsibilities

- Perform analytical testing using HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis, dissolution, and other laboratory instrumentation in a pharmaceutical quality control laboratory.
- Execute USP compendial testing of raw materials, in-process samples, intermediates, and finished pharmaceutical products in accordance with applicable standards and procedures.
- Review, interpret, and document analytical test results accurately, following GMP, GDP, and data integrity requirements.
- Prepare samples, standards, reagents, and solutions for testing, ensuring proper handling, labeling, and storage.
- Support method verification, method transfer, troubleshooting, and method development activities for client-sponsored projects.
- Assist with stability studies, including sample setup, testing, data generation, and documentation of stability results.
- Contribute to validation activities for analytical methods and instrumentation, following established protocols and guidelines.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory efficiency, data quality, and compliance.
- Ensure laboratory equipment and instrumentation are properly maintained, calibrated, and used in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with a team of chemists to share responsibilities for setup, sample preparation, testing, data generation, and clean-up.
- Follow all laboratory safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work area.
- Communicate testing progress, issues, and results clearly and professionally to colleagues and leadership.
- Support documentation practices by completing laboratory notebooks, logbooks, and electronic records accurately and in a timely manner.

Essential Skills

- 3–5+ years of pharmaceutical quality control laboratory experience.
- Hands-on experience with HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis, and dissolution testing.
- Strong familiarity with USP methodologies and compendial testing requirements.
- Working knowledge of GMP regulations and laboratory documentation practices.
- Understanding of data integrity principles and regulatory expectations for electronic and paper records.
- Experience testing raw materials, in-process samples, and finished pharmaceutical products.
- Background in chemistry, laboratory work, analytical chemistry, and wet chemistry.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for analytical methods and instrumentation.
- Ability to support method development, method transfer, and validation activities.
- Experience in a CDMO, CRO, compounding pharmacy, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to sterile pharmaceutical products and/or solid oral dosage forms.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- BS degree in Chemistry or a related science discipline is required.
- MS degree in Chemistry or related science is acceptable and valued.
- PhD level experience is not required for this role.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment with other chemists.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality, accurate data.
- Effective communication skills for documenting and sharing results.
- Adaptability to work with both older and newer laboratory instrumentation.
- Interest in contributing to a growing organization and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ballwin, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $31.25/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
