About this role

The Allen County Public Library is seeking a Safety & Security Manager to lead safety and security efforts across our 15-location system. This position is primarily based at the Main Library and provides system-wide leadership for the safety and security of staff, patrons, contractors, buildings, and grounds.

We are looking for a highly organized, proactive leader with excellent communication skills and strong follow-through . The ideal candidate is someone who anticipates potential problems, takes initiative, keeps track of the details, and makes sure important tasks and concerns don't fall through the cracks.

The Safety & Security Manager supervises security staff throughout the Library system and works closely with branch managers, Library leadership, Human Resources, vendors, and contractors to maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and evaluate Library-wide safety and security programs and procedures.

- Supervise, train, coach, and evaluate security staff and supervisors.

- Manage security coverage and address operational issues across all 15 locations.

- Conduct regular site visits and inspections to identify safety and security concerns and ensure appropriate follow-up.

- Coordinate testing, maintenance, and repairs of building safety and security systems.

- Ensure evacuation drills, emergency procedures, and other safety programs are regularly scheduled and maintained.

- Develop and deliver safety and security training and presentations.

- Monitor compliance with applicable OSHA and federal, state, and local safety regulations.

- Coordinate with contractors and vendors regarding safety and security requirements.

- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation and analyze incidents and trends to identify opportunities for improvement.

- Develop and recommend policies, procedures, and improvements that strengthen safety and security throughout the Library system.

- Respond professionally to safety and security concerns, inquiries, and complaints.

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in business administration, safety, security, or a related field and five years of professional experience developing and managing organizational safety and security programs; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

- Valid driver's license.
