Job Title: Assistant Controller needed in Tampa FL! Job Description The Assistant Controller supports and oversees day-to-day accounting operations, providing leadership in general ledger management, cash and treasury functions, payroll, and financial reporting. This role plays a key part in month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, while partnering with leadership to deliver meaningful financial insights and support strategic decision-making. It is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager ready to step into a more leadership-focused position with exposure to financial strategy and operational improvement. Responsibilities
- Support daily accounting operations, including general ledger management, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
- Oversee cash management activities, including banking relationships, cash forecasting, and treasury functions to ensure adequate liquidity and financial control.
- Monitor and improve accounts payable processes, including vendor management and internal controls, to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency.
- Manage payroll processes end-to-end, including commission calculations, labor cost analysis, and compensation reporting.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP and internal policies.
- Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes, providing financial analysis and insights to support planning and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with sales and use tax requirements, support audits, and manage other regulatory reporting obligations as needed.
- Identify and recommend process improvement opportunities across accounting and finance functions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Support ERP system optimization, including automation initiatives and reporting enhancements, to improve data quality and financial visibility.
- Partner with leadership to provide financial insights, KPI reporting, and recommendations that support business performance and strategic decisions.
- Serve as backup to the Controller, stepping in as needed to ensure continuity of financial operations and oversight.
- Help mentor, guide, and develop accounting team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a distribution, manufacturing, or multi-entity environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and month-end close processes.
- Hands-on experience with cash management, payroll administration, tax compliance, and financial analysis.
- Proficiency in general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, data analysis, and reporting.
- Experience working with ERP systems in an accounting or finance context.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to leadership.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- CPA designation or active CPA candidacy preferred.
- Experience in distribution, manufacturing, or multi-entity organizations is highly beneficial.
- Background in operational improvement and process optimization within accounting and finance functions.
- Comfort working closely with executive leadership to provide decision support and strategic financial insights.
- Interest in leveraging ERP systems and automation to enhance reporting and financial operations.
Work Environment This role operates in a fully on-site environment with standard business hours. You will work closely with the accounting and finance team in a collaborative office setting, using ERP systems and advanced Excel as core tools. The position offers direct exposure to leadership and executive-level decision-making, providing a setting focused on professional growth, operational improvement, and strategic financial support.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $90000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
