Schedule: Sat-Wednesday (Thursday&Friday OFF)
Shift:6:30pm-3:00am
Role purpose: Fuelers are responsible for cleaning, fueling, probing, and moving buses in a safe and professional manner. Fueling is understood as the act of putting any specific type of energy in a vehicle, including gasoline, diesel, natural gas, electricity, hydrogen, and any other potential technologies that may enter the market.
Knowledge and Experience
- Must be 21+ with a good driving record
- Must be able to pass a DOT mandated drug screening/physical
- Must be able to complete in-house training for the operation of transit buses
- Must have flexible schedule, including nights/weekends
- Must be able to work in all types of weather
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English
- Must be able to read and write legibly and follow oral and written instructions
Key Accountabilities
Core Competencies / Responsibilities
- Ensuring that all vehicles are completely fueled (CNG, electricity, hydrogen, etc.), cleaning the interior and exterior, checking or topping off fluids as needed, installing, or removing interior signage/ads, and other related duties.
- Probing fare boxes and vaulting cash boxes into receiver; documenting equipment being probed and vaulted; communicating with supervisor to address any discrepancies, errors, and malfunctions of fare box equipment.
- Driving, maneuvering, and parking vehicles in the Pomona yard.
- Ensuring that all fleet damage is documented and communicated to the appropriate maintenance supervisor in the event of unreported damage.
- Maintaining accurate, legible record of fuel usage and vehicle mileage.

- Long periods (potentially exceeding 8 hours per day) of walking, standing, sitting, bending, pushing, pulling, climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping, twisting, squatting, handling materials, repetitive hand-wrist motions, and traversing uneven surfaces;
- Exposure to both extreme heat and cold;
- Exposure to loud noises, fumes, and airborne particles;
In addition to the above demands inherent in every role, the following roles may entail unique physical demands, including:
- Operators/Drivers may work inside or outside vehicles and may operate vehicles for over 8 hours per day.
- Operations Supervisors and Managers may split their work between an office setting looking at a computer screen/electronic device and active transit field locations driving in a vehicle.
- Maintenance Employees may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals in a ventilated maintenance shop and may work with personal computers, laptops, electronic hand-held devices, complex electrical schematics, diagnostic software and testing devices, and other heavy machinery.
- Office Staff may work indoors in air-conditioned or well-ventilated facilities, including offices and cubicle spaces equipped with a telephone and computer and may entail typing or looking at a computer screen.
