About this role
Characteristic Duties:
Responsible for opening and/or closing procedures and daily operations of the library.
Assists users with locating, requesting, and processing materials from other institutions.
Checks materials and technology in and out.
Supports the Semester Loan Technology Program by assisting with the physical organization and functioning of devices.
Collaborates with other departments as needed.
Creates, schedules, and maintains study room appointments and study room space.
Assists with updating library website and creating content for social media.
Registers and updates user accounts.
Responsible for circulating all library materials and collecting fines and fees.
Receives, processes, and helps maintain Reserves materials.
Provides information to patrons in person, online, and by telephone, and makes necessary referrals; assists patrons as needed.
Helps maintain library space and collection.
Inspects damaged materials and refers them to repair or replacement.
Troubleshoots and provides assistance that supports daily functioning of the library (copiers, printers, DVD players, computers, print stations, scanning stations, etc.)
Supports library programming, marketing and outreach initiatives.
Assists in directing the day-to-day activities of student aides.
Processes materials borrowed and lent through Interlibrary Loan.
Anticipates future needs of students.
Keeps informed of initiatives concerning accessibility.
Participates in campus initiatives.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Work is primarily indoors and sedentary in nature. Work may involve lifting books and materials up to 25 lbs. of force on an occasional basis, pushing loaded book or media carts, and moving about in the work area.
Equipment/Tools Used:
Utilizes standard office equipment, including computers and associated software, in order to perform the duties of the job.
Supervision:
Under the general supervision of the Dean and receives direction from the Coordinator of User Services and Circulation Supervisor, receives oral and written instructions on work to be performed.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
Education: LTA Certificate or Associate’s degree required.
Experience: One year library circulation experience preferred and customer service experience required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Power Point required .
