About this role
We are looking for an AI-native builder and generalist to lead practical AI adoption across the organization. This is primarily a hands-on technical role focused on rapidly building, integrating, and deploying high-impact AI solutions—not a traditional data science or machine learning research position.
The ideal candidate moves fluidly between AI engineering, software development, systems integration, and business process automation. You should be comfortable taking loosely defined operational challenges and independently driving them from problem to prototype to production.
Location : LATAM 100% Remote . Working hours are based on the US Pacific Time Zone. Minimum 6-hour overlap
About the Company :
Abstra is a fast-growing, Nearshore Tech Talent services company, providing top Latin American tech talent to U.S. companies and beyond. Founded by U.S.-bred engineers with over 15 years of experience, Abstra specializes in sourcing skilled professionals across a wide range of technologies to meet our clients’ needs, driving innovation and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Internal AI & Knowledge Tools: Build, deploy, and maintain internal AI agents and intelligent search tools to answer common organizational questions using internal documents, standards, pricing models, policies, and naming conventions.
- Process & Workflow Automation: Automate repetitive business workflows by building agentic systems capable of executing multi-step, autonomous actions across multiple internal tools.
- Systems & Platform Integration: Extend existing back-office platforms (e.g., Monday.com, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Ironclad, and other SaaS tools) by building custom integrations with AI models, APIs, databases, and document repositories.
- Document Intelligence & Content Generation: Automate document review, comparison, summarization, data extraction, classification, and creation. Build automated templates, prompts, and workflows for recurring deliverables like RFPs, RFIs, proposals, reports, and presentations.
- Custom Application Development: Rapidly design and deploy lightweight internal applications, web tools, and scripts when off-the-shelf software falls short.
- Technical Leadership & Strategy: Serve as the internal AI lead—identifying high-impact automation opportunities, evaluating the AI features of software during procurement, and determining when to build custom tools versus buying existing solutions.
- Infrastructure, Security & Governance: Establish reusable AI infrastructure, tool-calling patterns, permissions, logging, security frameworks, and evaluation methods, while developing clear organizational AI best practices.
- User Support & Iteration: Collaborate directly with business teams and leadership to prototype solutions rapidly. Train, support, and enable employees to leverage AI tools effectively in their day-to-day work.
Required Qualifications:
- AI & LLM Ecosystem Expertise: Deep hands-on experience building with modern LLMs (Claude, OpenAI, etc.), LLM APIs, function/tool calling, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Model Context Protocol (MCP), and current AI agent frameworks.
- Software Development & Integration Skills: Strong proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript, REST APIs, relational/vector databases, SaaS API integrations, and modern cloud or containerized deployment workflows.
- Pragmatic Product Mindset: Proven ability to rapidly prototype, iterate, and ship functional software solutions independently.
- Communication & Problem-Solving: Excellent collaboration skills to translate ambiguous business requirements into practical technical solutions and train non-technical users on new tools.
What We Offer:
- Competitive compensation paid in USD.
- 20 days of paid time off (PTO) per year.
- Opportunities for professional growth and career development.
- Company-provided equipment.
- A collaborative, inclusive, and multicultural work environment.
- The opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects alongside a talented and supportive team.
