Under the direction of the Director, Property Management at Wonderful Amenities Center, the Wonderful Store Associate is responsible for creating a welcoming, efficient, and engaging experience for Wonderful employees, Wonderful Logistics Center tenants, and public customers visiting the Wonderful Company Store. This position supports the day-to-day operation of the store, including customer service, point-of-sale transactions, product merchandising, inventory management, store presentation, and maintaining a clean and organized retail environment.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, service-oriented, charismatic, friendly, detail-oriented, and comfortable interacting with a diverse customer base. The Company Store Associate should take pride in representing the Wonderful Company and its brands while providing a high level of service and ensuring the store is consistently ready for customers. This position will also support the sale and responsible handling of wine and other age-restricted products in accordance with company policies and applicable laws
Job Description
Customer Experience
- Welcome and acknowledge customers upon entering the store and provide a friendly, helpful experience throughout their visit.
- Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of Wonderful Company products, brands, and merchandise to confidently assist customers with product selection and recommendations.
- Complete comprehensive wine education and training to develop a strong understanding of the Store’s wine portfolio, including varietals, regions, tasting profiles, and food pairings.
- Use wine knowledge to confidently guide customers in selecting wines based on preferences, occasions, meals, and desired flavor profiles, while providing thoughtful pairing recommendations.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude with customers and colleagues.
- Resolve routine customer questions and concerns and escalate issues to management when appropriate.
- Maintain a professional, approachable, and service-oriented presence that reflects the Wonderful Company’s brands and culture.
Store Operations & Merchandising
- Maintain a clean, organized, fully stocked, and visually appealing sales floor, including shelves, refrigerators, merchandise displays, and storage areas.
- Follow established merchandising standards and product placement guidelines; maintain accurate pricing, signage, and promotional materials.
- Rotate and replenish products as needed and assist with seasonal displays, promotional events, product launches, and other Company Store initiatives.
- Operate and troubleshoot the store’s POS (Clover/C7) system accurately and efficiently.
- Follow all company policies and applicable laws regarding the sale and handling of alcohol and other age-restricted products, including established age-verification and transaction procedures.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, including preparing the store for business and securing the store at closing.
- Follow established safety, security, product handling, and customer service procedures to support a safe and welcoming environment.
- Communicate operational, equipment, inventory, and maintenance issues to management in a timely manner.
- Work collaboratively with Company Store leadership and cross-functional partners to support efficient daily operations and positive customer experience.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Inventory & Receiving
- Receive, inspect, organize, and appropriately store incoming products and merchandise.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate low-stock items to management.
- Identify damaged, expired, or otherwise unsellable products and follow established procedures for disposition.
- Assist with maintaining accurate inventory records and SKU information.
- Support inventory transfers, replenishment, and product organization in the back-of-house storage area.
Qualifications
A self-starter who is passionate about wine, hospitality, and creating exceptional customer experiences. This individual builds strong relationships with internal and external customers through product knowledge, genuine engagement, professionalism, and a commitment to service. They are detail-oriented, dependable, and eager to develop their wine expertise to confidently educate customers, make thoughtful recommendations, and introduce them to wines in approachable and meaningful ways:
- Basic Wine Knowledge (CMS Level 1 or WSET Level 1 plus)
- Wine Pouring Certification Required (CA RBS Certification) preferred
- 2+ years of customer service experience (retail, cashier, hospitality, food service, etc.)
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Must be at least 21 years of age required for wine-related responsibilities and licensing requirements.
Pay Range: $21.00 - $23.00 an hour. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
