Job Description The Project Manager oversees large-scale mechanical construction projects from pre-construction through completion, providing strong leadership to project teams and stakeholders. This role manages project planning, scheduling, procurement, finances, and subcontractor performance while maintaining strict safety, quality, and client satisfaction standards. The Project Manager leverages deep mechanical piping knowledge and construction management expertise to resolve complex project issues, drive profitability, and support the successful delivery of projects in data centers, hospitals, healthcare facilities, industrial facilities, and other mission-critical environments. Responsibilities
- Lead and consult with owners, general contractors, engineers, architects, vendors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to ensure project success and client satisfaction.
- Build, nurture, and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and project partners to support successful project execution and future business opportunities.
- Manage the full project lifecycle, including pre-construction, pre-planning, procurement, and construction scheduling activities.
- Take full ownership and accountability for projects under your direction, ensuring timelines, budgets, quality standards, and client expectations are consistently met.
- Plan, manage, and direct subcontractors to align their work with project schedules, budget requirements, and quality objectives.
- Solve complex project issues related to schedules, manpower planning, budgets, procurement activities, and project execution as an active member of the project team.
- Review and approve project budgets for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors, determining resource allocation from start to finish within budgetary limitations.
- Negotiate, draft, and execute subcontractor contracts with external vendors to reach agreements that are beneficial to the project.
- Manage project finances, including profitability, forecasting, cash flow, productivity tracking, and cost control measures.
- Lead project teams and provide clear direction throughout all phases of project execution, ensuring alignment with project goals and standards.
- Identify and resolve design conflicts by collaborating with engineers, architects, consultants, owners, and trade partners to determine project specifications and solutions.
- Lead strategic planning efforts and oversee project submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), procurement activities, and change order processes.
- Implement monthly cost reports and develop accurate cost projections to support financial planning and decision-making.
- Identify, price, submit, track, and resubmit change orders as necessary to ensure proper documentation and recovery of project costs.
- Approve supplier and subcontractor invoices, ensuring accuracy and alignment with contracts and project budgets.
- Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and quality standards while proactively identifying and resolving project issues.
- Organize and curate project documentation, including contracts, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and procurement records.
- Train and mentor Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, and junior staff on technical aspects of project management and mechanical construction.
- Professionally solicit vendors and suppliers during the procurement process to secure competitive pricing and reliable delivery.
- Understand company resource production capabilities and implement them effectively throughout the construction process.
- Maintain a safe and productive working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Successfully manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously while maintaining safety, quality, schedule, and profitability objectives.
- Communicate directly with clients, provide project reporting, and manage stakeholder expectations throughout the project.
- Oversee and be directly responsible for project financial performance, including forecasting, budgeting, and overall profitability.
- Provide direct leadership and oversight to Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers, and indirect guidance to project support personnel and internal support services.

- Ability to train and mentor Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, and junior staff on project management and technical topics.
- Understanding of company resource production capabilities and ability to apply them effectively throughout the construction process.
- Strong skills in vendor and supplier solicitation and negotiation during the procurement process.
- Solid understanding of project scheduling, procurement, contract administration, and change management processes.
- Ability to solve complex project issues related to schedule, budget, manpower, procurement, and project execution.
- Experience managing projects within data centers, hospitals, healthcare facilities, industrial facilities, and mission-critical environments.
- Ability to lead project teams while maintaining safety, quality, schedule, and profitability objectives.
- Minimum of 5 years of project management experience with a mechanical contractor.
- Direct mechanical piping experience.
- experience of approximately 8–15+ years managing large-scale mechanical construction projects.
- Experience managing large multi-million-dollar complex construction projects.
- Experience managing project financials, forecasting, procurement, subcontractors, and client relationships.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or 10+ years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a similar field is highly preferred.
- Experience supporting mission-critical projects is highly preferred.
- Data center project experience is strongly preferred.
- Healthcare and hospital construction experience is strongly preferred.
- Industrial construction and mission-critical construction experience are highly valuable.
- Experience managing projects valued between $30M and $100M+ is preferred for Project Managers.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam for document review and markup.
- Experience using Procore or similar construction management software platforms.
- Experience with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project or other project scheduling software is highly beneficial.
- Strong forecasting skills and demonstrated financial ownership of project performance.
- Experience with RFIs, change orders, and construction administration processes.
- Experience with mechanical pipe systems and hospital construction projects.
- Ability to work comfortably with construction management software and digital project controls tools.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $85.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
