Job Title: Lab Technician (Night Shift) Job Description
The Lab Technician (Night Shift) supports production operations in a regulated manufacturing and cleanroom environment by cleaning and sanitizing equipment, preparing and monitoring process solutions, operating specialized filtration and chromatography systems, and accurately documenting all activities. This role plays a key part in ensuring product quality and compliance by performing measurements, maintaining raw material inventories, and assisting with training of other technicians while working primarily on night shifts in a 24/7 facility.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize equipment before and after use in accordance with established procedures and GMP standards.
- Perform production operations within a cleanroom and GMP-regulated environment.
- Make and verify connections on flow panels to ensure proper configuration for process runs.
- Perform pH and conductivity measurements on process solutions and buffers to confirm they meet specifications.
- Prepare, perform, and document chemical and buffer additions according to batch records and SOPs.
- Operate the ultrafiltration system safely and efficiently, monitoring performance and making adjustments as needed.
- Initiate product processes on the Process Automated System, including chromatography operations using columns up to 80 cm.
- Take and prepare product samples for testing, following proper handling and labeling procedures.
- Order, receive, and maintain raw material inventories to support uninterrupted production.
- Complete batch records and other required documentation accurately, legibly, and in compliance with cGMP practices.
- Assist in the training of other technician positions by demonstrating procedures and sharing best practices.
- Work in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and departmental guidelines.
- Use appropriate cleaning tools and chemicals to maintain a sanitary production and laboratory environment.
- Follow inspection and quality standards for pharmaceutical, medical device, or biopharmaceutical manufacturing activities.
- Perform general production, general labor, unloading, and material handling tasks as needed.
- Use tools such as calipers and other measuring devices to support manufacturing and inspection activities.
- Lift, pull, carry, and move materials weighing up to 75 pounds as part of daily operations.
- Investigate and resolve inventory and delivery discrepancies using computer systems and related software.
- Read and prepare reports in accordance with department SOPs, and communicate with warehousing staff and other departments via email.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), when working with airborne particles, caustics, chemicals, fumes, human source products, and other manufacturing-related hazards.
- Work independently and as part of a team to achieve established production and quality goals.
- Support occasional after-hours and weekend work as required to meet production and shipment timelines.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma, Associate degree, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to work effectively in a GMP and FDA-regulated manufacturing and cleanroom environment.
- Ability to follow and work with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and batch records.
- Basic understanding of GMP documentation practices.
- Ability to perform cleaning and sanitization of equipment and work areas.
- Capability to perform pH and conductivity measurements accurately.
- Ability to operate production equipment such as ultrafiltration systems and chromatography columns.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and handle materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Reliability and ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.
- Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) correctly.
- Ability to work in a controlled cleanroom environment.
- Comfort working in a production, warehouse, or manufacturing setting with potential exposure to chemicals and human source products.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in large-scale manufacturing within a cGMP-regulated environment is a plus but not required.
- Experience working with Standard Operating Procedures and cGMP documentation practices is beneficial.
- Plasma fractionation or purification experience is preferred.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, medical assembly, or biopharmaceutical manufacturing is advantageous.
- Familiarity with inspection processes in a cleanroom or GMP environment.
- Experience with cleaning tools and chemicals is preferred but not required.
- Experience with general production, general labor, unloading, and warehousing tasks is helpful.
- Comfort using tools such as calipers and other measuring instruments.
- Ability to manage variable stress levels related to delivery frequencies, volume of work, interruptions, and occasional emergency shipments.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to offsite warehouses by personal automobile or company vehicle for work-related needs.

Work Environment
This role is based in a warehouse and manufacturing environment that is FDA and GMP regulated, including controlled cleanroom areas and laboratory spaces. The facility operates 24/7/365, and this position is primarily on the night shift with a typical schedule of 5 days on and 2 days off, working 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Night shift openings may follow 2–3 day intervals, including Monday through Friday and weekends, according to a detailed posted schedule. The work involves spending approximately 10–15% of the time seated at a desk using a computer and related software to investigate and resolve inventory and delivery discrepancies, read and prepare reports per SOPs, and communicate with warehousing staff and other departments via email. The remainder of the time is spent standing, kneeling, climbing, lifting, pulling, and carrying materials weighing up to 75 pounds, as well as performing production and laboratory tasks. Potential hazards in this environment include airborne particles, caustics, chemicals, fumes, human source products, odors, and other conditions typical of manufacturing, laboratory, and warehouse settings. The role requires consistent use of appropriate PPE and adherence to safety protocols. Stress levels may vary depending on delivery frequencies, work volume, interruptions, and occasional emergency shipments, deliveries, and receipts. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
