As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) , you will have a unique opportunity to develop specialized ophthalmology skills while supporting providers, patients, and families throughout their care journey. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys learning, values teamwork, and is interested in growing into a highly specialized clinical role.
What you can expect from this role:
Schedule: Monday - Friday 0800-1700
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate ophthalmology surgery scheduling for assigned physicians, ensuring patients and families receive timely communication and support throughout the surgical process.
- Complete a structured training program in pediatric ophthalmology, including preparation for Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification. Paid training and dedicated mentorship will be provided.
- Work side-by-side with experienced ophthalmic technicians for six months or more while developing specialized ophthalmology knowledge and skills.
- Support patient care activities including rooming patients, managing in-basket messages, obtaining patient information, and assisting with clinic workflows in ophthalmology and other pediatric specialty departments.
- Collaborate with providers and care teams to deliver an exceptional patient and family experience while supporting efficient clinic operations.
Qualifications:
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Certifications
- Current BLS-CPR Certification from the American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross.
- Current recognized National Certification as a Medical Assistant from one of the following: NCCT, NAHP, AMT, AAMA, AMCA, or NHA.
