Description
The Jr. Asset Management Analyst supports Special Servicing Asset Managers in the management of business purpose real estate loan portfolios. The role is responsible for assisting with portfolio monitoring, borrower communication, financial and property analysis, construction draw administration, reporting, and asset resolution activities. The position works closely with Asset Managers and Special Servicing professionals to identify risks, support decision-making, and ensure timely servicing of assigned loans and projects.
Responsibilities:
- Support the management and oversight of performing and non-performing commercial real estate loans.
- Analyze property performance, market conditions, borrower financial information, and project status.
- Review loan documents, borrower reporting requirements, financial statements, operating reports, budgets, and other loan-related information.
- Aid in contacting defaulted loan borrowers to determine reasons for default and assist with plans to resolve.
- Presents workouts with borrowers within acceptable company and lender client parameters, with guidance from Asset Manager.
- Monitor borrower compliance with loan covenants and reporting requirements.
- Communicate with borrowers, contractors, attorneys, inspectors, brokers, property managers, and other third-party service providers, as requested by Asset Manager.
- Help with workout, modification, forbearance, recovery, and asset resolution activities.
- Assist with managing an assigned portfolio of assets under the direction of management.
- Prepare asset summaries, portfolio reporting, business plans, recommendations, and status updates for management and investors.
- Maintain accurate loan, property, project, and borrower information within company systems.
- Support special projects, loan sales, significant market event outreach, and other departmental initiatives as needed.
- Develop thorough understand and ability to track construction budgets, project milestones, and outstanding borrower or vendor requirements.
- Identify and escalate potential credit, collateral, construction, operational, or project-related risks.
- Coordinate construction draw requests, including collection and review of required documentation, inspection reports, invoices, lien waivers, budgets, and related items.
- Order, coordinate, and review collateral property inspections and construction progress inspections.
- Assist with process improvement efforts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Real Estate, Business Administration, Construction Management, Economics, or a related field preferred. Alternatively, experience or internship experience in commercial real estate, banking, lending, asset management, construction lending, financial analysis, or related fields preferred.
- Real estate market research skills, utilizing online resources, including CoStar, Zillow, Rents.com, etc.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Basic understanding, or prior experience, of construction and construction project plans.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, with heavy emphasis in Excel.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
