Our Shared Services team in Las Vegas manages payroll, accounting, HR, legal, and operations support for nearly 3,000 employees across California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Hawaii, and Nevada. The Senior Payroll Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing, accounting, reconciliation, and reporting of payroll-related transactions across the organization -- combining payroll expertise with accounting acumen to ensure payroll expenses, liabilities, and related financial activity are accurately recorded and reported in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting requirements.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Support the accurate and timely processing, review, and reconciliation of payroll-related transactions across the organization

• Prepare, review, and post payroll journal entries -- including wages, salaries, commissions, bonuses, incentives, payroll taxes, benefits, and other payroll-related expenses

• Reconcile payroll registers, general ledger accounts, payroll clearing accounts, tax liabilities, benefit deductions, and other payroll-related balance sheet accounts

• Research and resolve discrepancies between payroll records, accounting records, bank activity, and supporting documentation

• Review payroll-related financial activity for completeness, accuracy, proper coding, and appropriate accounting treatment

• Support the preparation of payroll accruals, month-end close activities, and other period-end accounting adjustments

• Analyze payroll expense activity and investigate variances between actual results, budgets, forecasts, and prior periods

• Prepare and maintain supporting schedules, reconciliations, and documentation for payroll-related accounts and financial reporting

• Partner with Payroll and Human Resources to ensure employee compensation, deductions, adjustments, and other payroll-related changes are accurately reflected in financial records

• Assist with the reconciliation and accounting of commissions, bonuses, incentives, draws, guarantees, and other variable compensation

• Support the timely and accurate recording of payroll taxes, employer contributions, benefit expenses, and other payroll-related liabilities

• Assist with payroll funding, settlement, and bank reconciliations to ensure payroll transactions are accurately reflected in company accounts

• Identify, investigate, and escalate payroll and accounting discrepancies, unusual transactions, and potential control issues

• Support internal and external audits by preparing payroll reports, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and other requested documentation

• Assist with the development, documentation, and enhancement of payroll accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls

• Identify opportunities to improve payroll and accounting efficiency, reporting accuracy, and data integrity through process improvements and automation

• Maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate discretion when handling employee compensation, payroll, and financial information

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 3-5 years of experience in payroll accounting, general accounting, staff accounting, or a related role -- required

• Experience supporting payroll processing, payroll reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities -- required

• Experience working with accounting systems, payroll systems, and financial reporting tools -- required

• Experience analyzing financial data, investigating discrepancies, and maintaining accurate accounting records -- required

• Experience with commissions, bonuses, incentives, or other variable compensation accounting -- preferred

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting

• Working knowledge of payroll accounting, payroll taxes, employee deductions, and payroll-related liabilities

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel -- formulas, data analysis, and reconciliation functions

• Experience with Paylocity or similar payroll and accounting platforms

• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a high-volume, detail-oriented environment

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred -- equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

WHAT WE OFFER
