Avion Solutions Inc., a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking candidates for a Systems Engineer/Model Based System Engineer (MBSE) to support an Army Aviation Capability Program Executive (CPE). This position is located in Huntsville, AL.
Job Responsibilities/Duties:
- Apply your knowledge and proficiency in state-of-the-art Digital Engineering and MBSE tools to capture and decompose operational, functional, and system architectures aligning with CPE Aviation's acquisition and testing strategy for next-generation and legacy aircraft fleet.
- Serve as a key technical resource, coordinate directly with contractors, military stakeholders, and airworthiness authorities to ensure the safety, reliability, and performance of our next-generation and legacy aircraft fleet.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues with systems design decisions regarding requirements, architecture, and integration.
- Ensuring systems meet organizational needs and project goals through collaboration with team members.
- Document and communicate system design, processes, and troubleshooting decisions to various USG and OEM stakeholders.
- Identify, document, and quantify potential risks associated with systems engineering processes and execution by the OEM.
- Monitor model-based design data, identify bottlenecks, and optimize model-based systems for review and collaboration efficiency.
- Navigate a complex series of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) projects.

Required Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Background in Systems Modeling Language (SysML), Unified Architecture Framework (UAF), Unified Profile for DODAF and MODAF (UPDM), Cameo Systems Modeler and/or Cameo Enterprise Architecture or similar model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools.
- Progressive engineering experience in aerospace systems, MBSE, and/or Systems Engineering.
- Strong working knowledge of Army Rotorcraft design, maintenance, systems/subsystems, and military airworthiness qualification processes.
- Demonstrated experience executing systems engineering processes, including system-level reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and technical risk management.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to lead technical meetings and present complex data to military leadership and OEM contractors.
- Understand the management of complex project usage structures.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and have the ability to obtain/maintain a DoW security clearance.
- Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
- Prior experience working within or directly supporting a DoW CPE or Aviation defense program.
- Familiarity with military standards (e.g., MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-882, MIL-HDBK-516) and the Defense Acquisition University (DAU) framework.
