Job Title: Civil Design Engineer Job Description
The Civil Design Engineer will primarily focus on preparing plan sets, which include drafting, designing, and stormwater management for projects. The role involves regular attendance at client meetings, developing project designs, and creating construction documents using Civil 3D. Responsibilities also encompass coordinating construction site inspections and observations. The candidate will handle all aspects of the design and development of commercial and residential site design, athletic facility improvements, and other civil-related projects.
Responsibilities
- Prepare plan sets including drafting, designing, and stormwater management.
- Regularly attend client meetings to discuss project progress.
- Develop project designs and construction documents using Civil 3D.
- Coordinate construction site inspections and observations.
- Manage all aspects of design and development for commercial and residential projects, athletic facility improvements, and other civil-related projects.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in Civil 3D and AutoCAD with 3+ years of experience.
- Experience in civil engineering, commercial design, land development, stormwater management, and site development.
- Project management skills.
- B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field.
- EIT certification or ability to pursue certification.
- 1-4 years of consulting experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Aspirations to take on a project manager role within 3-5 years.
- Ability to coordinate with other engineering disciplines simultaneously.
Work Environment
The role is based in a satellite office located in West Des Moines, with several other offices across the Midwest. The office environment is quiet with little supervision, making self-motivation and strong communication skills essential. The engineer will work directly with the owner, sharing an open office space, and occasionally collaborate with other offices on various projects. The team in the MN offices consists of 85-100 people, with plans to grow the IA office to 8-10 employees in the coming years.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Des Moines, IA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $90000.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
