Role Summary
Barber Ford is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Automotive HR and Payroll Coordinator to handle the day-to-day human resources, payroll, and administrative functions of our dealership. This role will ensure accuracy in payroll processing, maintain compliance with employment regulations, and provide HR support to all employees. The position will also involve light accounting responsibilities such as invoice tracking, reconciliation, and assisting the business office when needed.
Responsibilities
Human Resources:
- Manage new hire onboarding, offboarding, and personnel file maintenance
- Coordinate employee benefits, open enrollment, and compliance documentation
- Support employee relations and serve as a first point of contact for HR inquiries
- Maintain and update company policies and employee handbooks as needed
- Assist with recruiting efforts by posting jobs, tracking applicants, and scheduling interviews
Payroll:
- Accurately process weekly payroll, including commissions and timecards
- Ensure compliance with wage, hour, and tax regulations
- Maintain payroll records and respond to verification or audit requests as needed
- Collaborate with the controller to ensure accurate reporting and expense tracking
Administrative Support:
- Prepare and maintain employee documentation and reports
- Assist department heads with HR and payroll-related data
- Maintain confidentiality with sensitive employee and financial information
- Support dealership leadership with various administrative duties
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in HR, payroll, or accounting (automotive experience preferred)
- Knowledge of payroll systems (ADP, Paychex, or equivalent)
- Understanding of federal and state employment laws
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook)
- High level of integrity and confidentiality
