About this role
To provide operational administration to assigned office and supervise daily operation and staff to ensure compliance with VDOT policies, procedures, and guidelines.
How you will contribute:
- Employee Development: Attend scheduled training to preserve and enhance skill level. Ensure employees under supervision attend mandatory training and have opportunity for skill development. Participate in employee recognition program throughout the year. Recognize unique and special employee contributions and accomplishments.
- Financial Management: Maintain accurate and organized financial records. Plan, coordinate and manage daily operations ensuring proper fiscal management or inventory processes. Process financial transactions and ensure accurate financial management according to VDOT policies.
- Office Management and Administrative Support: Provide leadership and support to a work group, unit or facility. Ensure unit operates in accordance with state and VDOT policies and regulations. Provide guidance to staff to ensure unit is operating efficiently. Train staff and coordinate and assign work schedules. Provide training and guidance to staff on procedural changes. Respond to customer feedback and take corrective action as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal and external customers.

- Experience applying purchasing guidelines and inventory management.
- Experience reflecting knowledge of supervisory principles and practices to include performance management and discipline.

- Skill in the use of computers and software applications.
- Working knowledge of business English and math.
Additional Considerations:
- A combination of training, experience or education in Business or related field desired.
