Job Title: Sales Representative Job Description
The Sales Representative plays a key role in guiding customers through the entire sales process, from initial online inquiries and phone calls through to test drives, final vehicle selection, and completion of purchase paperwork. This position focuses on delivering excellent customer service, understanding customer needs, recommending appropriate new and pre-owned vehicles, and building long-term relationships that drive repeat and referral business.
Responsibilities
- Respond to customer inquiries about new and pre-owned vehicle inventory daily via telephone and Internet.
- Answer customer emails promptly and professionally, providing accurate information and support.
- Handle incoming sales calls and customer inquiries as they are received, ensuring timely and courteous responses.
- Ask thoughtful questions and actively listen to customers to accurately determine their vehicle needs and preferences.
- Recommend suitable vehicle options and alternate choices when necessary to meet customer requirements.
- Stay up to date on new products, features, accessories, and promotions, and proactively recommend them to customers.
- Make daily follow-up calls to prospects and existing customers according to a predetermined work plan.
- Maintain a structured follow-up system that encourages repeat purchases and referral business, contributing to high customer satisfaction.
- Develop and consistently implement a prospecting system to build and manage a pipeline of potential customers.
- Schedule appointments with prospects to visit the showroom or meet at a mutually agreed location.
- Meet with prospects during scheduled appointments to review vehicle options, demonstrate features, and answer questions.
- Guide customers through all steps of the sales process, including vehicle selection, pricing discussions, and finalizing purchase details.
- Coordinate with dealership staff to complete purchase paperwork accurately and efficiently.
- Set, implement, and maintain personal income and performance goals that align with dealership productivity standards.
- Move vehicles from the lot to the front of the store when needed to prepare for customer test drives.
- Accompany customers on test drives, highlighting key vehicle features and benefits.
- Answer incoming customer inquiries via phone and email in a friendly and professional manner.
- Collaborate with management and sales teams to stay informed about new products, services, and dealership policies.
- Record customer information accurately in the customer service database and keep records up to date.
- Engage with clients in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner while actively listening to their concerns and needs.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of face-to-face sales experience, preferably in the retail or automotive sector.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to build rapport and trust quickly.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for daily administrative and sales tasks.
- Comfort and professionalism in communicating with customers via email, telephone, and in person.
- Ability and willingness to perform data entry tasks and accurately record customer information in a customer service database.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to actively listen, ask relevant questions, and identify customer needs.
- Strong organizational skills to manage follow-ups, appointments, and prospecting activities.
- Motivation to meet and exceed personal income and productivity goals.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in an automotive dealership environment is a plus.
- Experience handling both phone-based and online customer inquiries.
- Comfort working with sales management teams to stay aligned on products, services, and policies.
- Ability to manage multiple customer interactions and follow-ups in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment
The Sales Representative works onsite at a dealership location in Northeast Philadelphia in a professional sales environment. The role is based in a personal cubicle equipped with a phone and computer, and involves regular collaboration with a team of approximately five other Sales Representatives and Sales Managers. Dress code is business casual. The schedule includes every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., one weekday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., one weekday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., one weekday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and one weekday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday is always off, and one additional day off during the week is arranged with management. After six months, the role transitions to a straight commission structure, with a commission plan discussed in detail during the interview process.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
