About this role

Job Description:

This position is a key member of the Henderson, NV based Maintenance team and is responsible for the efficiency, safety, and reliability of the site’s manufacturing control and electrical operating systems. This individual will be working with electrical power systems, instrumentation, motor controls, PLC, HMI, data systems, and other aspects of factory control infrastructure. Additionally, the Senior Controls Technician is responsible for the technical development of Maintenance Technicians and management of key site programs (calibration, for example). The successful candidate will be able to effectively communicate, take ownership for the ongoing performance of the plant, and demonstrate competency in teaching, coaching, and assessing others.

What are we looking for?

Minimum:

- 3 - 5 years of Factory Controls & IT experience, including production system troubleshooting and problem resolution
- Possess or can obtain NFPA 70E certification (electrical safety, arc-flash, etc.)
- Ability to support day, afternoon, or night shifts based on the needs of the business

Preferred:

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical/Electronic/Controls/Automation) and 3 - 5 years of Factory Controls & IT experience
- Alternatively, 6 - 10 years of Factory Controls & IT experience

What will be your key responsibilities?

- Identify and recommend changes to improve plant performance utilizing existing or new control systems

This includes the ability to program modifications in PLC’s logic, HMI’s programs, and servo controller logic to improve equipment performance

- Troubleshoot machine breakdowns and malfunctions utilizing a working knowledge of control system programs and tools required to troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and VFD/servo systems, including electrical schematics, programming software, meters, and other electrical test equipment
- Train and assist Maintenance Technicians in troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, and commissioning all electrical control devices, including AC drives, DC drives, servo controllers, contactors, motors, breakers, solenoids, power supplies, and indicator lights

This includes all PLC/HMI hardware, processors, discrete and analog I/O cards, power supplies, network adapters, I/O hardware, and operator interfaces

- Act as a technical resource to operations and maintenance on control-related issues
- Assist operations and maintenance Associates in meeting daily priorities, coverage, and special projects
- Prepare job aids, user documentation, systems documentation, standard operating procedures, and training materials for plant automation systems

Maintain the equipment manual library such that all manuals are up to date

- Owner of the Factory Controls & IT Infrastructure in assigned areas
- Responsible for the implementation of factory controls & IT projects under the direction of the Controls Engineer
- Supervise the work activities of outside contractors, controls technicians, and other Associates with the installation of instrumentation, PLC-based control systems, and PC-based operator interfaces
- Engage in Regional and Global Factory Controls & IT Infrastructure related projects, if necessary,
- Administrate the Calibration and Change Control Card programs for the site
- Participate as an Essential Element owner of the PM Pillar, including support for the AM Pillar of MSE

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.
