FOOD SERVICE WORKER

PRIMARY FUNCTION: To provide a variety of nutritional foods for student’s breakfast and dinner meals. Engage in preparing food portion and cooking food consumption as recommended by the USDA. Helps with daily or weekly food supplies on food list form.

QUALIFICATION:

- High School Diploma or equivalent GED.

- At least two years of related experience of an equivalent combination of training and experience

- Ability to develop, follow menu plan and conduct schedule

- Must have knowledge of modern food service

- Must have a Valid New Mexico Driver's License and current motor vehicle insurance.

- Ability to communicate effectively oral, verbal and in Demonstrate effective human relation skills.

- Ability to pass a background

- Must have CPR and First Aide certification or be willing to get.

- Must be willing work additional of overtime hours on occasion.

- Must be willing to work with students

INDIAN PREFERENCE: Preferential consideration for employment will be given to persons of documented Navajo, American Indian or Alaskan Native Tribal membership who meet the qualifications above, in accordance with the requirements of P.L. 100-297 and the Navajo Nation Tribal Code.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide professional services to students and guests and greeting them courteously, determines and handles their needs and directs or escorts them to proper

- Assist Lead Cook with selecting and developing recipes based on type of food to be prepared in accordance with the meal plan and applying personal knowledge and experience in food preparation.

- Responsible for ensuring the preparation and delivery of sack lunches, sick trays, special meals

- Maintain a good sanitation and cleaning enviroment.

- Ensures quality and quantity of food inventory meet established standards and specification staying on top of storage organization.

- Assisting the school cafeteria cook in preparing, cooking, and serving

- Responsible for preparation of a variety of salads daily.

- Ensures food is appetizing, creative and nutritionally suitable when served to

- Aprons, hairnets, caps, chef hats are required to be worn by school cafeteria cook and assigned food service

- Food services are subject to inspection at any time by the Navajo Nation and New Mexico Environmental Health

- Maintain confidentiality of KRCI information and

- Uphold the positive image for the KRCI in the

- Performs other job-related duties as assigned and adhere to KRCI Policy and Procedures.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: School Year Full Time Non-Exempt employment contract renewable annually by Board of Trustees with recommendation by Supervisor Lead Cook as per Job Performance Evaluation. Hourly pay rate set on a scale based on qualification, education, and experience.

- Accuracy, completeness, and timelines of KRCI records

- Attitude toward fellow employees KRCI employees, students, parents, guest and Board of

- Quality of communication with KRCI employees, students, parents, guest and Board of Trustees

- Attendance record for schedule work hours

- Meet and greet parents, students and guests appearing at random or as

- Ensuring that food is appetizing, creative, nutritious, and edible by the

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Frequent interaction with staff, students, parents, and guests. Moderate and high interruptions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to perform job requirements as listed above.  Physically demanding tasks, frequent bending, twisting, squatting, reaching and long periods of standing at kitchen equipment.
